first post.... realy can use some help

Hi all,.

this is my first post, so i would like to say HELLO TO ALL!!!!!!!
i just got my dad's old AVIC -S1. i have been reading, but i think i'm to dumb

so i need some help.
i DO know how to get in to my S1 (hold menu and sound at the same time) BUT WHAT DO I DO AFTER? what is unlocking means? looks like i need SD card of 2G not HCSD (my S1 is not reading my 4G HCSD card)

i know that my S1 needs a full update i'm getting :your s/w is old BLuhBLUH BLUH

i'm running windows 7 64 and 32 and i have XP and at work i have Vista Home

and not one PC see's my S1
i don't have original DVD
my Avic version is 1.01.14
map:US_20060704_pioneer_v11.map

and i would like to update it to US maps IGO, GARMen, i8 anything at would run good on my S1
also i would like to know how to Add other places like Russia, Israel ECT
