1. ohlarikd from the12volt.com found a program to open the pim's in COLOR! We have finally cracked the D1's image format! Here are all the D1's wallpapers in JPEG: http://jasonhilton.us/d1/backgrounds/finished/
2. Sure, I guess I forgot to link it when i posted the file. It should be above the file now.
3. First Attempt at Custom Wallpapers EDIT:Forgot Screenshot /\
4. Hmm, well, I don't know of anything to keep your steering wheel controls, you might be able to rip apart a pioneer remote, and maybe kinda make it work. I don't know much about Onstar, but if uses the car stereo, then all you will need is the Pioneer Aux In Adaptor. For a DVD Player, you will need a external DVD Player and run it into the D1's video Input. That should do it! Jason :)
5. Due to the increasing progress on modifing the AVIC's, I realized it was time to set up file uploads. Now when you create a topic or reply, there is a "Add an Attatchment" box. Simply select your file and click "Add Attatchment". I have put a 2MB Limit on it for now. Thanks, Jason :D
6. Ok, I finally figured out how to open them in grayscale. Havent figured out color yet, but I will. http://jasonhilton.us/d1/backgrounds/pimphotoshop.jpg http://jasonhilton.us/d1/backgrounds/ca ... toshop.jpg
7. The D1 will not play DVD's alone. You can, however, bypass the motion lock and plug a DVD Player into the Aux Input.
8. I finally recieved the 1.2 Update DVD's after sending Pioneer a few emails. I ran them through WinMerge and had it analize the differences between the two DVD's. Here is what it came up with: http://avic411.com/files/comparereport.html
9. NICE! Great to finally get a picture and info on the unit. I think i'll hang on to my D1 for a wile though.
10. The NavTraffic Reciever fits fine under the D1. Near the 12 Volt socket. I think you may have a defective reciever, it should get ACC Power over the IP Bus, but I guess if it works hardwired, no reason to return it.
11. Make sure you have the cables in the right spots. If it still dosn't work, you probably have a dead reciever. There may be a fuse or something that is preventing the reciever from getting power. Reciever Data Out -> D1 Data In Reciever IP Bus Out -> D1 IP Bus In
12. 1. Data Out and IP Bus Out go to the D1. 2. Do NOT Connect the Red Cable. Jason

The VSS Wire is a pain in the ass. You have to remove the passenger side running board, and then remove the kickpanel. Once you have that all apart, its a orange/white wire in a 100+ wiring harness. It's not required, but according to the manual it improves accuracy a considerable ammount and allows navigation when GPS Signal drops out. I wish I took pics, sorry.
14. VERY NICE! Just curious, what are you using for the video input? Did you do the bypass?

Hey Josh, It was very easy to install. Except of course the VSS Wire. I didn't have to modify anything. The D1 slid perfectly into place. I'm not sure how it will be in a 97 Cobra, but if it's like mine, it will be a piece of cake.
16. I'm curious to see what people think.
17. Front Row is a program made by Apple that acts as a media center on top of OSX. http://www.apple.com/imac/frontrow.html It is only suposted to work/come with the iMac, but people have allready found out how to get it to work on the Mac Mini. I think it would be very cool in a car.
18. Lol, go figure Pioneer to send the wrong version... In the correct version for the D1 (D1 1.2) did you notice any differences from 1.0? Also, did the disc for the N2 work in the D1?
19. Yes, the N2 is fully compatible with XM and Sirius. But, I would get XM with NavTraffic if its in your area.
20. I made this mockup after Apple Released "Front Row". I think it looks really cool. The Mac Mini or any car computer could be pluggged into the AVIC's Video Input. http://jasonhilton.us/d1/frontrowconcept.jpg
21. Simply enter your Vehicle Year/Make/Model here, and it will tell you where the VSS Wire is. http://www.rostra.com/techsupport-main.asp
22. I don't have access to a N2, but thats a good idea. To Upload a jpeg to the N2 you have to do the following: 1.Burn a CD-R (-RW) with the JPEG image(s) you desire to upload 2.Insert the CD-R (-RW) to the disc-loading slot. 3.Touch “Settings” in the Main menu, and then touch “Background Picture Setting”.The picture selected for each screen is indicated on the right side of “AV Background” and “Navigation Background” items. 4.Touch “Navigation Background” or “AV Background”. 5.Touch “Import from Disc”.The list of the pictures stored on the CD-R (-RW) is displa

Thanks! I'm trying to set up a user photo gallery for this site, as well as a "How To" section so other people can not only show off their installs, but guide others with instructions.
24. Ok, I have found a ton more XM Logo's. Check this out: RAW PIM FILE: http://jasonhilton.us/d1/backgrounds/LPS020.PIM PIM FILE IN NOTEPAD: http://jasonhilton.us/d1/backgrounds/20on20.jpg DISPLAYED ON D1: http://jasonhilton.us/d1/DSC02279.JPG These PIM Files are basically ASCI Art from the 90's.
