  1. When watching video on from an iPod (using the iPod interface), there is a "Widescreen Mode" which can be set to Normal, Full, Zoom, & Cinema. All of these besides "Normal" stretch/crop/zoom the video AUTOMATICALLY, as if they were expecting a certain resolution (I'm assuming DVD source resolution, 720x480 NTSC). Normal mode does not stretch, crop or zoom, but it inserts black bars on the sides of the picture, even if you provide a widescreen video. I've been trying to get a bunch of movies I encoded to 480x234 to display properly (no cropping, stretching, zooming or black bars), but I can
  2. i just went out and compared some different AR rips, a 4:3 (312x234), a 16:9(416x234), and a 2.35:1(cropped to 2.05, 480x234). video mode of the ipod is full (normal) and the mode of the d3 is full (normal). in all three the image was cropped to 312x234, so the 4:3 looked great (with black bars on the left and right AS EXPECTED), but the 16:9 got cropped and the 2.05:1 got cropped a lot. does the ipod only display 320x240 in the "tv out" mode? even if i set the ipod mode to "widescreen", the IPOD inserts black bars on the top and bottom, then the d3 inserts them on the sides (312x240), in whi
  3. i just got my d3 installed today (hoorah), ive got the 80gig video ipod hooked up thru the ipod interface. ive already ripped a bunch of movies, all with resolutions ranging from 480x234 to 312x234. If a movie was 2.35:1, then i would just crop the movie to the contrast ratio of the screen (480/234 = 2.05). So I now have a bunch of 480x234 movies which look GREAT on itunes and even on the ipod (in widescreen mode). HOWEVER, when i play these movies on the d3 they still have bars on them?! I tried every combonation of d3 screen modes (normal, full, zoom, etc) with both ipod modes (full, widescr
