  1. First, I am not programmer even though I studied Machine Language in College. (a funny story in itself) If the software used in these units is Microsoft Automotive 5.5, then why couldn't someone with knowledge of software development simply go to Microsoft and download the development kit and hack these units with upgrades? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd296800.aspx The updates should be able to decompiled using the developer software would'nt you think? I would be curious to see what others think of this as I have not been involved with programming in over thirty ye
  2. All give Mastrch some credit. What I have found in reading the hundreds of posts on the F series, Z series etc. over the last year or so is a majority of posters think second best is a "Winner". Only a fool would excpet sub-par performance. You know what they say, "Winners get to F' the prom queen, losers look at the prom queens picture" All admit I have been a Pioneer die hard for more years then I care to remember. In fact I was one of the first people in the US to get the first SuperTuner in the mid 70's when they came out. If any of you had taken the time as I did to lo
  3. I would like to add a second analogy to this thread that I believe hits the nail on the head. For all of you that believe that second best or quirky bugs are O.K. ask yourself this question. If you bought a brand new car that cost you $45,000.00 and this Pioneer head unit was installed as a factory add on, would you still except the substandard operation of the product? I doubt it. You would be the first people in line at the service department within days of buying the car. Want to know why most nav. systems in new cars work flawlessly? Because the car manufactures would not ac
  4. First I am glad I did no pull the trigger on this series. Back in July I posted about how dissapointed I was in the launch and follow up from Pioneer on the F series. I got some flack from some of the forum members. Funny, six months later and looks like Pioneer still does not have their act together. Since June of 2008 there has been some 843 Problems/Troubleshooting posts on the F series. When you consider that the members of this Forum are only a limited number of the actual people that have bought this product that seems to me like an excessive amount of issues for a product that
  5. I don’t post very often on this sight, but I read it religiously for information. Thank God I did not pull the trigger on the F series. When I heard about it coming out the first of the year I was phone call away from ordering a Z series. Figured I would wait because the F series looked like it had all the features that I wanted. As a consumer I could not be more disappointed in a product launch and I don’t even own one yet. I manufacture and provide services in to industrial clientele. If put out a product like this I would be out of business, period. Its amazing how stupid
  6. deleted - multiple post sorry
  7. Anyone using this unit? If so how do you like it? Did you hook up seperate amps for each channel, etc... or something different? Also for those of you that have taken the system to the next level some input on the amps and speakers you used. Especially iwith the Deq-8000 in 5.1. Thanks
  8. I've been gone for a few weeks and wanted to revisit this topic. I've had some warranty experiences buying through Ebay in the past so I figured I would look at some alternatives to the Z2. I went to Pioneers web sight and they authorize Amazon.com. Did a price search and found that about four of Pioneers authorized etailers are selling on Amazon. Funny thing is there selling it cheaper through Amazon then if you were to call them up direct or order online from them. Anyone have experience with Amazon. The going price is just under $1500.00, for New items.
  9. Again, posting a comment that really was not necessary. I'm a defense contractor and was called away on emergency bz. for the D.O.D. Sorry I could not sit in front of my computer 24/7 waiting with baited breath to respond to every-ones posts, one by one.
  10. Well I wanted to thank the few of you that basically hijacked the thread. In the future all make you a recommendation,(you might be new to the internet, or at least you act like you are) before you decide to start posting a reply re-read the post. I never once asked what problems you were having with the unit. I know how to use the search button, and frankly there are enough posts on problems to fill a volume of the encyclopedia. The question was on Internet e-tailers and ebay stores. So, going back to my original request and for the reading impaired; I would like informat
  11. First, this is a great forum. You long term posters have some amazing information. I found this web sight about a year ago and have been actively lurking though it since. I was going to buy a Z1 back when they first came out and held out. Did buy Ducati headlight flasher, anticipating the purchase. It still sits here on my office shelf. Anyways, now that most of the bugs and bypass issues seem to be resolved I'm ready to buy. What are the recommended places on the net to buy, that will back the product sale. You can find these units on Ebay for around $1500.00. With the Sq
