  1. I had been using a 1st generation Ipod Nano with my Z2 and it charged fine but it was stolen and I now have a 4th gen nano which plays just fine except that it won't charge. Is there any kind of adapter or anything I can do to remedy this?
  2. Just to update anyone who had an eye on my situation. My NAVTraffic trial which was added eventually cut out. I never really got much use out of it which didn't really help me decide if it was worth the risk. With that said, when the NAVTraffic cut out, my free XM still remained. I don't know what I did to deserve this but I've been getting free XM for nearly a year now. Once again, I find myself getting greedy and entertaining the idea of calling XM and explaining that I was told my navtraffic would last as long my "dealer demo" lasts.
  3. I am actually having the same exact problem. I even had pioneer send me the actual disc and I put it in and it won't reset. My version is also 2.000 after my disk wouldn't stop rebooting and magically fixed itself.
  4. at this point, my unit won't even read any discs. As soon as i turn my car on, it will say "Program update started" (even though the disc is no longer in the unit). Within about 2 seconds, it'll say "program update failed...restarting" and then the unit resets itself and the whole process just loops through.
  5. OK now im officially freaked out. I just made a bootable disk (i selected the basefile.dat as the bootable image) with roxio and ran it in my z2 that won't boot up. It reset like it was supposed to and then proceeded to say program update started. It then said "Program Update failed. Restarting" and now it just loops through that even after i take the disc out. I can't do anything on it and it restarts before it can even read another disc. I called pioneer all day and the only help i got was that i have to send it in. Someone please help! (sorry for the double post, i don't know w

  7. So your saying it should work even though the unit wont actually turn on? I burned two different discs. The first one, i added the files into roxio cd classic and just hit burn The second one, i opened the folder for the D: drive, dragged the files in and selected write these files to disk.
  8. Im just about fed up with my z2. I just had it installed about a month ago and I got the usual freeze ups when it would be hot out like everyone else. The past few weeks, however, it has been getting progressively worse including a couple freeze ups at night. I just got back from a four hour commute in which i actually needed to use the navigation, and as you would expect, it froze for the entire ride (no music...it was working fine until i stopped at a rest stop 30 min into the trip and wouldn't go past the "Starting Pioneer Navigation...." I finally get the email about the firmware upda
  9. God, I'm an idiot. Just found it, Thanks for the tip.
  10. I just did the research myself and found the bypass update. Burned and ran that and now it's working like a charm. Thanks for the help guys.
  11. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but... I originally had the N3 installed before it got jacked. I've just recently replaced it with the Z2. I remember that when I'd be using the navigation on the N3, whenever the voice guidance would need to give directions, it would stop the music and the directions would be given then resume playback. Is there any way to get that to happen on the Z2 instead of just having the voice guidance going while the music is playing?
  12. You should def. call them up then. They immediatly know your getting free service because they see it on the box, but it comes up as a "Demo Mode" which she explained as what car dealerships do for new cars. She couldn't even tell how long the free demo version was going to last. So your probably on the same thing, I'd at least call and give it a shot. Can't hurt. Good luck.
  13. COMPLETE SUCESS!! Just called them back. I said I had just gotten the pioneer unit installed in my car and that i was skeptical about adding navtraffic to it because i wasn't sure if it would work in my area and that my installer said if I called XM they would give me a trial period. I was put on hold, and a new lady answered the phone and asked me for my radio ID, I gave it to her and she informed me that I'm getting free service because my radio is on a "Demo Account" that the "dealership" puts on. She went right ahead and added nav traffic to my unit for as long as the demo account cont
  14. Ok, I just got off the phone with XM. I tried to tell them that I had purchased the unit for my nephew and that he had purchased the XM service to which i wanted to add the Nav traffic and pay the 3.99 a month difference. I was shot down. I hung up and then called back again and asked the lady to run the radio ID that came on hoping that she'd be able to tell me what service plan was on the reciever i had, but again, she couldn't give me any info without the name address and phone number on the account. So it's looking like i'm going to have to cancel the service and pay for the year
  15. This is an annoying predicament. Free XM service without NAV or pay for both. I think i'll call tomorrow and i'll be sure to post what happens. What coupon code should i use?
