  1. That looks like the adhesive between the digitizer and LCD is starting to give way, can you not heat it up with a hair dryer and carefully split the 2 screens and then remove the excess adhesive with nail polish remover/acetone, then just seal them back together around the edges.
  2. Join the Red(switched) and Yellow(constant) together. A lot of harnesses come with an adapter/way of joining these
  3. Is anyone using this? Looks interesting, just downloaded it for my Android HDMI stick so I'll see how I get on https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/102908788212710276577 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitspice.automate&ah=DjBWrx7phoCnwMt_HrR2QHyXTtQ
  4. Have you tried selecting Google Text-to-speech as your preferred output engine. On your Android device, go to: Settings > Language & input > Text-to-speech output.
  5. the MK809iii hasn't got gps so it won't work when connected to your TV, reloaded has the option to inject the gps from the appradio though, you need to turn this on in the unchained app and turn on mock locations in settings-developer options. If locatio services is tuened off on your rom you will need to manually enable it
  6. Yea, I've been keeping an eye out for a TR7 but they are about €30-€35 this side of the world which seems a bit pricey. It's also only up to 4minutes which is an improvement but I'd like backup for say 8-9hours so when I leave work it doesn't have to boot again
  7. Everything is great, the battery backup is the last piece I need to get setup/working as it is a pain in the ass if you are making a quick stop at the shop and need to wait the 90seconds for the stick to boot when you return to your car. the wifi wasn't great on the stick I bought but I'm handy with a soldering iron so I soldered on a copper wire antenna which fixed that. Other than that it's given my AR2 a new lease of life and I'm loving it.
  8. The only battery that I can find that actually advertises this as a feature is the Romoss Solo series http://www.romoss.com/powerlist.php?SortID=11 I've ordered one so I'll update how I get on when it arrives
  9. I'm really enjoying my radio since installing it, much faster and smoother interface. GPS injection is good too.
  10. I'm now using this 1 month and have to say it works flawlessly, next thing I've to do is get the battery backup wired in so when I stop the car for a couple minutes I don't have to reboot. I bought a cheap battery pack but its switched, so just need to try mod that to charge while in use. I'm sure there are hundreds of different models that work, I just bought the cheapest one with decent reviews I found, which was the mk809iii and was only €35 inc postage.
  11. I'm pretty sure you need the official cable(CD-IU201V) to use the older phones(iPhone 3GS/4/4S, iPod Touch 4th Gen) with that radio as the video from the phone is analogue and needs to be run in through a 3.5mm jack on the rear of the radio. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Accessories/Smartphone-and-iPod-Cables/CD-IU201V Edit, I was right, extract taken from the manual!
  12. iPhone 6 needs to run into the HDMI port in the back of the radio on the AR3, so a HDMI to Lightning cable or adapter are needed. the iPhone4 cable is analogue video so there is no adapter
  13. Sounds like it's wired wrong, possibly the 12v switched and 12v constant are the wrong way around.
  14. Android appradio unchained, Android HDMI dongle tethered to your iPhone for internet if you dont want to change your phone
  15. Mike hasn't been active on any of his online accounts in a long time(10Months), safe to say he may not be coming back wherever he is. The version he shared on github is a brand new build he was creating for ios7, there is very little source code written, in fact all the source code does when compiled is allow the application to run in the background when you close it, thats it. The previous working build from ios6 wasn't opensource AFAIK
  16. Yes, there is some investment involved but for me it was a no brainer, I'd a pretty useless AppRadio2 so my options were to upgrade to an AR4 which was a huge investment and I was relying on selling my AR2 to fund it or to invest a couple of euro and see how it goes with an android HDMI stick. In the end I used the free version of appradio unchained, spent €5 on the GPS Injector, €35 on the HDMI Dongle and I now have more features than the latest and greatest radio available. I like to mess about with technology so rooting the android dongle was a bit of fun and if it didnt work out I wou
  17. I use my iPhone to make voice calls, I'm on an AR2 so not possible to bluetooth stream audio but here's what I did. Disconnect the hdmi dongle and click the phone icon, then the settings cog wheel, delete everything except the HDMI Dongle. now go back to settings - special device - other and add the phone, when your phone is paired it should be device 2, no power everything off/back on again. If you go into the phone-cog wheel a checkbox should only be in the Bluetooth device you are using for phonecalls See here for more details I'm pretty sure on the AR3 there is bluetooth profi
  18. Asking for proof of $2000 to write this is bullshit, of course the interest is there, they just have to look at the App Radio Unchianed/Reloaded downloads/reviews in the play store or the sheer amount of views this thread has(over 600,000). IMO the person that's gonna write an app like this is going to be someone who's already invested in an AR2/3/4 and are an apple phone user, if someone was to start developing this now they would at least need an Appradio 2/3 and maybe a 4 if they are supporting it also.
  19. ^^That is correct, it is confirmed here http://forum.xda-dev...5&postcount=508 The issues mentioned by 03Aviator are because his radio is an NEX model
  20. From reading some reasearch on various forums the stick draws about 2amps when booting up initially but once booted only requires 500ma to stay on, I was looking at something like this Now the one thing I'm unsure of is if the unit takes a charge while suppling power to the android stick as in does it act like a UPS or do you need to switch it on when you are tuning off the car which would be unresonable, I'm going to buy a cheap chinese €10 one for testing
  21. Mine takes 90seconds from the time you turn the car on until you can stream a song from the internet(spotify). Yes it's a bit of a pain but worth it in my opinion. if you are using extensions with an iPhone4/4s and the iPhones off it's no different boot time. The Android stick responds much much faster to touch input than extensions, its exactly like using a tablet. I am intending on installing a backup battery which should last a couple hours so maybe it would only have to boot up once/day in the morning and the battery should start charging on my first drive. I'm looking into the different
  22. I don't know what radio you have but GPS injection works with an android stick/any android device on the AR2 and AR3 radios, Thats what the GPS Injector is for. I can 100% confirm this. Area51 is also working on GPS Injection for the AR4 but is currently unsupported http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58461615&postcount=508
  23. The best place I've found for these firmwares would be http://www.freaktab.com/forumdisplay.php?113-MK-Models-MK808-802-etc Its not necessary, I just wanted the latest and greatest firmware.
