  1. Sorry for the late follow-up but this menu item / feature wasn't available on my 4000nex. Just FYI
  2. Thanks. I'll go back out and check sometime after the rain.
  3. Hmm... I have the 4000NEX And I didn't see ASL in the manual. But maybe it's on the other models. I'll double check the settings tonight when I head out. Thanks
  4. My vehicle's stock radio (Rockford Fosgate) used the VSS wire to adjust the volume. As the vehicle speed increased so did the volume. If these NEX units had a similar feature it would be the icing on the cake.
  5. I think the speed shown by any gps navigation is calculated by measuring gps location traveled within a fixed time period, and is usually very accurate (with good gps fix) and can be more reliable than a vehicle speedometer when non-stock tire/wheel combo produces a different overall diameter.
  6. +1 These are excellent head units with huge potential.
  7. Dude - as I read your blog it felt like I was there trying to hack the AVIC with you. I'm digging the full story, assembler output and all. No matter how it turns out; It's already very interesting. WTG!!!
  8. Does your issue happen when only using AppRadio? What do you mean by "system just shuts off"? Do you mean that it literally has no power -and- can perform no function?
  9. Do you have multiple Bluetooth devices Paired with the NEX? If so, then it sounds like you're describing what azjack discussed in his thread on Bluetooth Pairing: http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/38779-bluetooth-pairing-priority-on-avic-8000-and-possibly-all-nex-devices/
  10. Back to the installers for access to USB-1? Sounds like you don't have direct access to both USB-1 & USB-2.
  11. I'm not an Apple user. I use App-Radio Unchained so that gives me full access to my Android UI. My only AppRadio complaint is the mess of cables (HDMI+USB into Adapter + micro USB into cell) occupying so much space. I'm seriously thinking about putting all those wires (adapter et all) behind the dash. Mirror Link is something I haven't tried fully (initial wait time was too long). In addition to Waze I stream video to entertain passengers and myself if I'm not driving + everything else I use my phone for. But I do keep the text and email to a minimum (or not at all) if I'm driving of
  12. Uh boy - that's a real bummer. From the doc it says: "Connect the Bluetooth device manually in the following cases: * Two or more Bluetooth devices are registered, and you want to manually select the device to be used, ..." Maybe they'll provide a solution to this problem in an update. It sure sounds like a good feature request though - something like select primary Bluetooth option or simultaneously connect to all Bluetooth devices. None of the obvious workarounds are good in my view: 1 "Um, guys ... you wait here while I go start the car. Every time!" 2 Manually estab
  13. Speaking as a software developer - I wouldn't consider your movie stutter experience to be a bug unless it could be reproduced with a file that satisfies the documented criteria for Media compatibility. Just my .02 FWIW
  14. I think the problem is indeed the file itself. Mpeg-4: Okay Codec QT: Quicktime Codec isn't documented as compatible codec, but it likely resembles Mpeg2 Overal Bitrate 3,836 kbps: Is probably too high Video Bit Rate 3,701 kbps: This value exceeds documented max video bitrate of 2.5 Mbps Video Resolution 1248x702: Documented Max Res is 400x240 so the NEX has to work to scale the image down / also consuming CPU. Audio bitrate 128kbps: I didn't see any NEX documentation about limits for this (at first glance) Audio Codec AAC: Okay ----
