  1. I've given up on trying to use Appradio mode on my new receiver, it is so bad. So what I'm trying to figure out is how to COMPLETELY disable it so that every time I start the car I don't have to deal with the error message saying that "App is not supported" because it can't find my iPhone running the stupid Pioneer app.. Any ideas?
  2. These units can behave strangely if the USB connector is attached. I forget the exact sequence of steps in my AVH-5600BHS, but I remember it being a PITA to figure out and through trial and error I was able to disconnect the USB cable from the phone, then shut off bluetooth, then restart the radio, then the choice was no longer grayed out. Something like that Good luck!
  3. I don't think it will work like that. I just installed my AVH-5600BHS a few days ago and haven't really read through the manual completely yet, but my initial impressions are as follows: Appradio mode pretty much sucks ass. Not worth the $100 in cables it cost. You have to configure Bluetooth (not USB) connection, which is totally counter-intuitive. Then you have to download the Appradio iPhone app. THEN when you plug in your iPhone, most of the time you'll get a mysterious error message saying something like "App not supported" or "Unsupported app" (or something like that) followed
  4. Figured out the problem. Its just the buggy-ass way this thing works. If you don't have "bluetooth" set as the connection and then you dock your iPhone 5, it will give you an "incompatible USB" error message.
  5. Hey guys, I literally JUST finished a major install in my truck that included the AVH-5600BHS head unit. I installed the Pioneer CD-IV203A cable kit along with an Apple VGA-to-Lightning connector, but when I plug the phone into the connection it says "incompatible USB". There are no aftermarket cables, just the ones provided in the Pioneer kit and the Apple adapter. Is this a configuration issue in the head unit, or have i got something else wrong going on...? Thakns
  6. Thanks for confirming that. Makes my decision much easier about which unit to get. I just wish the AVH5600BHS came with the capacitive multi-touch screen of the Appradio 3. Heck, I'd pay $100 more for that feature. But going all the way up to the $1,400 NEX 80000 just to get 7" capacitive touch doesn't make any sense at all... Given that the feature set between the Appradio 3 ($400 street) and the NEX8000 is not all that different, the $1,000 difference in price seems wacky. The only advantages of the NEX 8000 over the AppRadio 3 appear to be: 4v pre-amp (rather than 2v) subwoofer p
  7. Hey guys, sorry for the n00b question, but do the hacks for running unsupported apps on the Appradio also work for the other decks that use Appradio mode? (such as the AVH5600BHS)? This might be a good reason to re-jailbreak my iPhone....
  8. Hey all - first post here. I've been having fun researching a new head unit for my car and I was almost ready to pull the trigger on the Appradio 3 until I saw that it had no sub outputs and the preamp output was 2v instead of 4v. I love the multi-touch capacitive touch screen and included GPS puck though... So right now I'm leaning toward the AVH 5600BHS, as it seems to be a better "stereo" and from what I can tell the "app radio mode" is the same on either unit...? What about the AVIC units - what is the difference with that series vs the AVH series (just built-in navigation?)? I have
  9. One thing to keep in mind is that the Appradio does not have subwoofer outputs and the preamp outputs are 2v instead of 4v. I've also been agonizing over the decision between a AVH5600BHS and the Appradio 3 but for these reasons I'm leaning towards the AVH - seems like a better "stereo" and the whole Appradio thing still seems a bit immature and buggy based on the research I've done so far.
