  1. Try increasing the brightness. That worked for me with the Music app and album art. With CarPlay active, press the physical home button, then the settings icon (upper right hand corner), then scroll down to Picture Adjustment. Play around with the brightness, contrast, and dimmer settings. These settings will only affect CarPlay. (Also, credit goes to Spankey for pointing this out to me.)
  2. I posted this in a separate thread but no one's responding, so I thought I'd ask here. Do you know what the default setting is for the Dimmer function on the NEX units for both daytime and nighttime? (The slider goes from +1 to +48.) I wanted to compare my new settings to the original, but I forgot to record what the original settings were.
  3. Can anyone tell me what the default setting is for the Dimmer function on the NEX units (specifically the 4000, if possible) for both daytime and nighttime? The slider goes from +1 to +48. I've been playing around with it trying to get the album art to show up better and wanted to compare my new settings to the original, but I forgot to record what the original settings were. Thanks to anyone who can help.
  4. Just played around with the brightness/contrast settings and the artwork is MUCH more noticeable, even in the daytime. Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's not as bright outside. Thanks for the tip!
  5. If you're only interested in 8000 owners, feel free to ignore this, but I have a 4000NEX with the following setup: Hybrid Audio Imagine 6.5" components up front JL Audio 8W3-v3 8" sub in a sealed enclosure JL XD/700/5 amp I absolutely love my Hybrid Audio speakers, but I am tempted by the new Focal PS165FX components with the flax surround. Has anyone used these (or any other Focals)?
  6. Excellent, I'm going to have to try playing around with that. Thanks a lot.
  7. Spankey, are you saying there's a way to adjust the brightness and contrast specifically for CarPlay? How do you do it?
  8. Right, but I'd rather have both CarPlay and visible album art.
  9. Yes, definitely experiencing that too. I remember thinking after first using CarPlay update that the artwork was very light in the background and difficult to see. If I drove at night, however, it showed up a lot better. With IOS 8.1, it looks like they decided to darken the whole screen so that only a small ribbon of the album art shows at the top of the screen, and barely at that. I hope they'll change this.
  10. Haven't noticed this issue, and my CarPlay works just fine.

    flac playback

No problems here either. FLAC files from my SD card play just as they did before.
  12. Thanks for the response. I should have said above that I'm using an iPhone 6 with IOS 8.1.
  13. When I connect my phone, it takes almost a full ten seconds from the moment I unlock my phone for CarPlay to be ready for use (icons on screen, ready to go). I'm wondering if this is about the average, or if my connection is slow. I'm asking because I have my phone hooked up to my 4000NEX using the official Pioneer 30-pin cable and a Lightning Adapter on top of that. So, I'm wondering if using the old cable with the Lightning Adapter might be slowing things down a bit, or if it would be the same if I used only a Lightning cable. I'd appreciate any input on this that anyone can offer. T
  14. Just tried it out on the drive home and it worked flawlessly for me. I was able to select tracks, view artwork, play radio, and everything else without a problem. Spotify is back!
  15. Waiting to get out of work so I can try it.
  16. I haven't noticed any change in sound quality. I have a JL XD700/5 amp, and had the popping problem too (which was fixed with 1.08), but everything sounds as good now as it did before.
  17. For me, it's worth the extra couple of seconds to plug in the phone so I know that I can arrive at my destination with a full charge. I would think that any kind of wireless operation of CarPlay would drain your phone's battery pretty quickly. Are there other benefits to Wi-Fi operation that I'm not thinking of?

    Siri Volume

All I can tell you is that I upgraded from an SD card both times (1.06 and 1.08) and my Siri works okay. But there are so many variables here, it's hard to pinpoint what's causing the problems.

    Siri Volume

A lot of people have asked about Siri's volume. Try raising the Alerts volume (on the right hand side of the volume bar that appears on screen whenever you raise or lower the volume).
  20. This is one of the reasons I quit using AppRadio mode for good. Complete unreliability of the apps and failure to work consistently. Such a frustrating experience.
  21. Right now the only third-party apps that work with CarPlay are iHeartRadio, Rdio, and (supposedly) Spotify. The others (like MLB At-Bat and Stitcher) are going to work with CarPlay at some point, but haven't been updated yet.
  22. Looks pretty nice: http://9to5mac.com/2014/10/27/alpine-carplay-display-ilx-007/
  23. The only thing new that I can see is that 1.08 fixed the audio popping that some of us were experiencing when shutting down. Other than that, I don't see anything new either.
  24. Yes, it's been out since the 20th. There are already a few threads about it on here.
