  1. Ok, I checked both and it is recorded perfectly, I insert it (I made a new one in case) and once I see CD inserted I press map and nothing....
  2. Ok, I didn't realize they dropped the price, (2 weeks ago it was $999) I paid less than $900 including DIN kit, and connector! I bought a refurb unit on ebay.
  3. Ok I figure that my problem has to be in the update (or lack thereof) because I went ahead and grounded the cable to the negative cable on the Z2 harness at the suggestion in one of my searches. I checked my CD (copied to computer) and it works, but when I insert it in my Z2 and press map nothing happens, it just switches between the map screens.
  4. I've read them all, I know what to check but I'm doing something wrong. I removed the cellphone mute wire by lifting up the tang and inserted it into connector 2, lowest right hole I then simply spliced the green parking brake wire into the mute wire and grounded the mute wire to my dash. I put everything together and drove the truck around the block and it stopped working. So I figured I'd messed up connector 2 somehow, I slightly tugged on it and it moved slightly so I put a dab of super glue but no dice, it still gives me a warning that my parking brake wire isn't hooked up correctly an
  5. !Warning! Thread hijack below, Out of curiousity do you HAVE to mount the mic? I really hate voice commanding (don't try and change my mind, I don't like it and won't use it) but I don't want an alert popping up every five minutes telling me I don't have it connected. Thread hijack end.

    Bypassing Z2?

As the title states, can't this be done? I thought you did it the same as the Z1. But I read in a recent thread you can't do it.
  8. Ok, I have the Avic Z2 now. My stock speakers SUCK, to put it lightly I'd really like better sound quality, I like to play my music loud and proud so what can I play and still get decent sound out of them? I'm really looking to get sound quality equal to or better than my Dad's Chevy Suburban with the Bose package, is that possible to do with limited funds?
  9. If your not scared of 'refurbished' models here is a deal too good to pass up! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=001 I've been searching for the cheapest Z2 I could find (champaign taste on a beer budget) and after being out bid on several units I bit the bullet and bought this one. I think I'm gonna be happy.[/url]
  10. I'm super syked! I ordered the Z2, wiring harness, Double DIN kit, and it all came out to less than buying a new D3 at my local Best Buy! I think I made the right choice...don't you?
  11. I'm looking at buying an Avic Z2 for my 2005 ford, I'm mechanically inclined but I've never tried to install a radio before, I'd really like to do it because I'm extremely anal about my truck and hate to let some geek at Bust Buy take a dremmel to my dash board. I'm fairly sure I'll need to do some trimming on the dash but other than that do you think I could tackle this? Is there a how to somewhere? I've done a lot of searching but I haven't been able to find anything specifically for my truck. Thanks, Scriv
