  1. I have installed three Z series head units in my cars over the years. Once in a 2003 Expedition, once in my RAV4 and once in my 2009 Porsche Cayenne. I still own all three cars. They are sort of unbeatable. I just bought a new Toyota Highlander and intended on getting one with no radio so I could install another Z2 but the one that came with the Toyota looked so nice... Boy, was I wrong. I am now considering replacing the $4000 upgrade on my Toyota with yet another Pioneer Z2. First of all, I am completely spoiled with the Bypass. I completely forgot that the new unit would be
  2. I know it has been a long time since my original post, but my work takes me away for months at a time. I am now back to making this installation. I found an adapter from kit from Metra that is making the job easier. Its the Metra 70-9003 The adapter is normally for a VW/AUDI/BMW and isn't listed for the Cayenne at all. Lucky for me, my local shop guys were willing to just dig around and found a match. http://www.amazon.co...p/dp/B0002BEVAC I now have in my possession, a nice used Z3 that plugs into my 2009 Cayenne. I have a non-Bose version Cayenne. I purchased the HUR
  3. Its probably the same for many Porsche cars or maybe all Cayenne... I do not have the fiber optic type, I have wires and a connector that looks like this... Can anyone PLEASE help me with the wiring of this connector!
  4. I have the HURR955 coming but now find out that the factory radio is NOT the fiberoptic type. The guys from NAV-TV tell me that I will still need the HURR955 but that I will have to wire it myself. I hope it is for more than the antenna adapter. Not so sure what that might be... Those things are $500 So far, I have not been able to find any connectors for the 2009 Cayenne radio connector. I guess I may have to wire it myself. Does anyone know where I can find the pinout / colorcode for my 2009 Cayenne w/o the Bose Factory radio? Greg
  5. Has anyone installed AVIC in a 2009 Porsche Cayenne (or similar)? Wondering where others have located the bluetooth microphone and Satellite Antenna(s)?
  6. I want to install my Z3 in a 2009 Porsche Cayenne. It looks like I need something like the NAV-TV MOST HUR955 Fiber Optic interface. Its pretty expensive, but no problem if it is what I need. Anybody had any experience with Z series in a Porsche Cayenne? What about the steering wheel controls? Seems there is also a standard double din dash kit available (which is also pretty expensive). Again, no problem if it works.... I found this stuff... http://www.installer.com/cars/by_car.php?carid=8356 Thanks -- Greg
  7. OK I think I figured it out..... I need the GEX-P10XMT NOT the GEX-P920XM. From what I have read, the GEX-P920XM does not do Data / Traffic... Watch for me on EBAY... I guess this is a good thread anyway, for someone making the same mistake.
  8. I have a GEX-P920XM XM unit -- it only has an IP-Bus cable. IP-Bus in and IP-Bus out. I also have the CB-IB100 that I had originally connected but tried the XM receiver with and without the IPOD adapter.
  9. I had a Z2 in my 2003 Expedition for several years, it was stolen so the insurance company replaced it with a Z3. Then I took my Expedition to my mountain home where it is now in semi-retirement. I now drive a 2002 Rav4. I found a nice Z2 on EBAY for $600 with everything I thought I needed. Now installed, I called XM to have my license (plus traffic) moved from my Expedition to my Rav4. I thought I would just move it back when I was at my mountain home. After all, I can't drive both cars at the same time -- they live in different states. Almost everything seems to be OK with the "
  10. I just got back from lunch today to find my Expedition broken in to and my AVIC-Z2 ripped out of the dash. All the accessories are still there and it looks like they just unplugged everything. I had everything, IPOD interface, Bluetooth, Steering Remote, everything. I think that stuff is all OK. Most important of all, I had the Bypass Hack. My insurance will replace the unit and I was thinking I should buy a Z3. Should I buy the Z3 instead of another Z2? We can do the bypass on the Z3, right? Will all my old accessories work in the z3? Thanks for the support on
  11. This may or may not be the same for your model but take a look. If you have an unused connector that looks like this, it may be right for you. On the Eddie Baur with Factory Navigation, this is connector C2188c. It is located right behind the Factory Nav/Radio. Yours is probably different. Pin 5 is the Tach Pin 10 is Reverse Pin 11 is control I am using for steering wheel controls If this is not correct, let me know and I will see if my manual has your setup in it. Maybe it is different. Greg
  12. There is a lot of confusing information about the 03 Expedition out there. Apparently there are a few versions around so the information I have may not be the same for your SUV. Do you have the Eddie Baur with the factory NAV already installed? If so, I can probably help. However I did get everything working except for the sub woofer. That I still need to work out. THERE ARE NO PLUG KITS that work for everything. You will need to use a plug kit from a different year for some lines and cut wires for everything else. Everything does appear at the old NAV Radio connectors. Ba
  13. Isn't that nice.... How hard would it have been.... Thanks for the help. Greg
  14. My Z2 installation in my 2003 Expedition is almost complete. I purchased just about everything I could including the CD-UB100 USB Adapter. I was really looking forward to hooking up a usb drive and keeping a bunch of music on the system. BUT - Two Big Problems. 1. Not enough power to run the Western Digital USB2 drive. 2. If I use a "thumb drive", which works, the Z2 does not read out any of the file or folder names. Just numbers. Does anyone know if there is some way that the files need to be listed on the drive so the titles and folders can be browsed with the Z2? I was
  15. I had the same connector problem with my 2003 Eddie Baur Expedition. I replaced the factory navigation system with the Z2. I purchased 4 different connector sets that didn't fit anything. [scosche and Metra] Seems that in the first model year of 2003 body style, there were the early and late wiring setups and even another one that is a hold over from earlier models. I finally had to drive down to a local shop where some nice guys just kept going back to their store room until they found me connectors that would fit. The speaker and power connectors that finally fit said 1998 and u
