  1. Ok, after searching many, many, forums finally found the simple answer. The phone volume, text, volume and guidance volume are all controlled separately. You have to adjust the phone volume when you are actually on a phone call. Same with reading back texts. I hope this helps anyone else having problems. By the way, I have a Pixel XL.
  2. Anyone out there with a 8200nex having issues with a very low volume while using android auto when talking on the phone? I have tried turning up all controls on the phone but to no luck. Is there a phone volume on the unit itself that I am missing. Any help is appreciated.
  3. I have a Pixel XL but I am running Android Auto on a 8200nex. Everything works great with an exception of the phone volume being really low. If anyone has feed back on this please let me know. I did have to use the original data cable that came with the phone to make it work.
  4. Just an update to my initial question. I currently have a note edge and there is a appradio update available. Everything works great now with no problems yet.
  5. Thank you for the reply. The bluetooth connection is not what my concern is. To mirror my phone using appradio I have to use the HDMI out of the unit to a Samsung MHL adapter. It is that functionality I am concerned about.

  7. Is there anyone out there using a Galaxy Note edge on their NEX unit? If so did you have to root your phone? I am currently using the 8000nex with a galaxy s5. Both are running kitkat but I am unsure if there will be any hardware issues. I do not want to drop money into the Note Edge if it is not going to work. Thanks
  8. I have a Galaxy 5 and the 8000nex and it works great. You do have to have the Samsung MHL adapter. The pioneer one does not work. Yes, it does require the screen on when connected.
  9. I can not tell from the picture, do you have the #2 USB from the head unit plugged into the MHL adapter?
  10. Pioneers appradio which was created for their units and appradio unchanged are two different programs. Appradio unchained is a modified version of Pioneers appradio. I am sorry I just realized the typo in in my reply where I said I uninstalled appradio I meant appradio unchained. I hope this helps. Also, if you do get it going I found a little quirk. Be sure your unit connects to bluetooth with the phone before plugging it in. It sometimes does not want to connect so I turn off the bluetooth and back on and pair with the unit.
  11. I just got mine installed and working today. First, in smartphone setup I set it to others. I initially had appradio installed but could not get it to work so I uninstalled it and installed the regular version. It went into a calibration screen where you have to touch spots on the screen and when finished it was working. I have yet to try appradio unchained after I got everything working. Good luck.
  12. Thanks, I think you made my decision.
  13. Hi all, I am interested in the AVIC8000NEX and have a galaxy s5. I know Pioneer says it is not compatible with appradio at this time but I was wondering if anyone has tried this setup yet. I primarily would like to use it for music without having to stream via bluetooth. Any input would be appreciated.
  14. Hello starkey, I am also considering the NEX 8000 and am also a bit confused (which is easily done). Are you getting full functionality of AppRadio with your S5 and did you have to root your phone to do so? My only concern is that Pioneer does not list the S5 as compatible, but I do realize that might be because it has not been tested yet. Any input is very much appreciated.
