It seems that the post you mentioned now has a solution that looks correct....

You can hook up just the battery power(yellow), accessory power(red) and ground(black) wires to check your unit. You WILL have to have the brain plugged in, also. The unit will NOT power up without it...

Which remote are you trying to use? Did it used to work and now it doesn't, or did it never work?

It sounds like one of your problems may be having two sources connected to your N2 at the same time. Try ONLY connecting the iPod to the A/V inputs on your N2, and see how that does. Then we can go from there...

You absolutely need to use the antenna that came with the XM tuner. It is a specialized antenna for recieving the XM signals from both the satellites and from land-based tranponders...

Try switching the power antenna output to remote out. It sounds like your amplifier(s) are not turning on...

Your best bet is to send it in for the flex cable repair, and if it turns out that more attention is needed, they will fix those problems and bill you. I haven't heard of it ever going over $200.00, which is chump change compared to a new nav system....

Remember, you cannot go backwards with your NAV updates...., e.i., CD-NV80MT cannot be reversed to a CD-NV70MT, and so forth...

What vehicle is it installed in? What harness/interface did you use?

The side you have already seen should have done the trick. The harnesses may not be interchangeable, but I am not 100% sure of this...

Where are you located?

The GPS antennae are a bit delicate, and they do not usually take well to car washes and pressure cleaners. Glad to hear you got fixed up...

Also, your idea of putting the GPS antenna under the dash pad should work fine, and the brain should fit above the under-dash cover on the passenger side of the dash - if you still have one. The map upgrades should not give you any problems. If you decide to add the bluetooth adapter, you will have 2 mics, one for VC, and one for BT. And, any aftermarket camera will work with the N2, as long as it has a standard, RCA-style video output.

Well, first thing to catch my eye was that you asked about an N3/N4 brain swap. They are completely different, the N1/2/3 share a compatible platform, but the N4/5 share another. As for the bluetooth, you're probably going to hate it. And the iPod interface, well, it's ...s......l.....o.....w....

Well, to reset the unit, you can, A) press the reset button - a small, recessed dot on the front of the indash unit, or, remove all power for a minute or two.

N 1/2/3 are very nearly the same, but I cannot say for sure that the mech. are identical - but, I cannot see any reason they wouldn't be. The major differences are in the motherboard and the software, and a few cosmetic changes...
