  1. Yes, this is totally disappointing! There is absolutely no reason why Pioneer shouldn't be able to support CarPlay when plugged in through Digital AV Adapter; I suspect the next firmware upgrade will address this. What's worse, having CarPlay enabled will disable Mirroring and SD Card playback for the Rear Video source! Meaning, I can't use CarPlay while kids watch videos off SD Card on the rear monitor. Now, this particular issue may be due to a real technical limitation (per Pioneer's CarPlay implementation) and I'm VERY disappointed. Basically now I am left with a headunit that I must c
  2. So far I have not run into any issues with my iPhone 6, however my experience is only limited with Bluetooth. I didn't particularly like AppRadio stuff, and I am really waiting for the CarPlay update to see how thing work out. I imagine Apple would ensure that CarPlay works properly with iOS 8, and that's pretty much what I want out of my NEX.
  3. I recently had a Concept CFD-135 installed in our minivan, and I am very pleased with it. I especially love the LED-backlit screen (super bright!) and its support for HDMI input. I decided to write up an extensive review here: http://parkroyk.blogspot.com/p/concept-cfd.html Let me know if you have any questions! Roy
  4. FAT32 does not support volume greater than 32GB, although you can "hack" to support >32GB. There's nothing stopping anyone from formatting SDXC card using different file systems other than FAT32 or exFAT or NTFS; the SD card shows up as as low-level USB Mass Storage Device (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_mass_storage_device_class). From what I can find, SDXC is electrically compatible with SDHC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital). The corruption you're referring occurs due to corruption of FAT32 writes onto non-standard FAT32 formatted device. That is a data issue, not an is
  5. Straight from SanDisk's Knowledgebase (http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2520/~/sd%2Fsdhc%2Fsdxc-specifications-and-compatibility): "SDXC cards will work in SDHC compatible readers (not SD readers) if the computer OS supports exFAT." The reason why most/all SDXC cards come formatted exFAT and not NTFS, is probably because OS X not having native NTFS support. (just imagine most lay persons returning their cards claiming they don't work)
  6. No, what you're referring to is some folks formatting SDXC cards with FAT32 partition, using utilities like Fat32Formatter. In that case, one would expect problems as if the receiver unit writes data expecting standard FAT32 FS. Situation is different here as NEX supports NTFS (that, Pioneer correctly states in their manual), and the SDXC card is formatted in proper NTFS. I have not run into any issues so far with hundreds of media files on my 256GB SDXC card.
  7. I just installed Pioneer AVH-4000NEX with a ceiling mounted monitor, as well as a backup camera. I wrote up a blog entry and you can read about them here: Review of AVH-4000NEX Review of CFD-135 ceiling mounted monitor Review of TaoTronics TT-CC17 Backup camera Let me know if you have any questions!
  8. AVH-4000NEX can playback 1080p H.264 videos!! Plus nice information on SDXC, etc. Read all about it here
