  1. I have the AVIC-D3. I have all speakers/subs on external amps. Can I turn off the internal amp since I'm not using it? Also, anyway to turn off the amps from the D3? When I power it off, the amps remain on. Thanks!! Eric
  2. Update...played with it during lunch. The "whitenoise/static" is coming from the tweeters. Its mainly noticeable if I use one of the staging settings (Dynamic Theater). If staging is off, not so noticeable. If I unplug the front RCA cables, static goes off. The crossover for the component (where the front tweeter and woofer plug into) has a dB jumper. It can be 0db or 3dB. I have it to 3dB on all 4 of my speakers in the car. Would this affect it?
  3. Good point, I'll play with those tonight. Right now each speaker is right in the middle for gain. The volume sounds sweet (i can crank the avic-d3 to 40 with no distortion on some songs) but I do notice a little static in the background. Another question, which could be related. I have component speakers in the front (crossover going to a tweeter and woofer in the front door). The amp (Alpine MRP-F250) a switch for high pass filter, which is ON. Should I have the high pass filter on the AVIC-D3 on as well? What configuration should I do? I thought the crossover for my components act
  4. Got a AVIC-D3 installed last week. Just noticed this today that there is noticeable static when volume is over 8. If I switch to a source with no volume (like the DVD), there is static when volume is at 8 or higher. If I go below 8, no static. All 4 of my interior speakers are amped and my 10" sub is amped. I have Sirius and the PAC steering wheel controls. I grounded the AVIC-D3 to the ground wire going into the OEM stereo wiring harness. I grounded the Sirius and PAC into the main ground wire going to the chasis. Where should I start looking? I'm guessing it's a ground is
  5. Damn. How much better is the XM interface then? What does it do better than Sirius? I signed up for 3 months on Sirius but I might switch to XM. XM is also giving 3 free months with 6 months of service. I could probably find a used XM box and sell my Sirius and come out about the same. Do people get better signal from XM? I get good reception with Sirius, except none in my garage and will sometimes miss a beat if I go under a long overpass. I'm guessing both have these issues.
  6. I have the same question. Looks like this is the big negative with our NAV. The other day I wanted to find the closest Lowes from where we were. I had to do a POI, type in city first then the name. Then I had to know which one would be closest by the street. If I was in town I was not familiar with, I'd be SOL. I'm not even sure how I'd find it with the Vicinity button. Would it find me a Loews?
  7. I have Sirius on my D3. Is there a way to show the artist, song title, and the station at the SAME time? I don't want to hit the Display button to see each one. Is XM the same?
  8. I've searched through 46 pages and can't find a single Pontiac and/or GTO background. Lots of talented people here, hopefully someone can make one! I have a AVIC-D3, FYI. Anyone have anything? I have a 2006 GTO (Brazen Orange) but I'll take anything!!
  9. Dumb question........I also have 2ohm speakers but will be powering them with a seperate external amp. This should sound and work fine with the AVIC-D3 right???? Or am I still better off getting 4ohm speakers? BTW, the 2ohm are aftermarket JBL GTO components!
  10. The cheapest I've seen the D3 is $599 shipped (http://www.everyprice.com/item.asp?item ... YAodkSyOpw). But then you need to buy your accessories (iPod adapter, steering wheel control, harness/cage, etc. I'd get the accessories on eBay. I think for ~$700 for total, it's a helluva deal. I agree, get an iPod/Sattelite Radio so you can toggle between NAV and your music with no interruption. Think about it.......copying your music (MP3s) to CD/DVD is old skewl. Why not just keep it on one place, your iPod, and take it wherever you go? This is why the single DVD slot works fine.
