  1. So I called up Pioneer and they told me that I should reformat the USB to Fat 32, download the update again and try to reapply the software. Which I've done countless times. My next step is to take the radio out and ship it to Pioneer for them to evaluate it. I will remove it this weekend and ship it to them on Monday. FYI, my radio is out of warranty and it's $80 for them to evaluate it. A word of caution to anybody that's thinking of updating the BLUETOOTH on the NEX 8100!!
  2. Has anybody successfully updated the 8100 NEX radio with the latest Bluetooth found in the 1.09 Firmware? I was able to update my Firmware from 1.05 to 1.09 with no issues but when I followed the directions to update the Bluetooth, it Errors out, and what's worse the Bluetooth on the radio is not working at all...Any suggestions would be helpful.
  3. I was able to successfully update my 8100 NEX via USB1 from firmware 1.05 to 1.09.. However, I tried updating my Bluetooth per the firmware directions and it's not working. I was on 03.41.10 and I get an ERROR in the process. I used the exact same USB drive to do the firmware update and it doesn't work. I tried to do the Bluetooth update via the SD card and same issue, it says it's updating don't turn off the engine and then I get an ERROR screen. Does anybody have any idea what's going on before I call Pioneer?
  4. I decided to order the new Amazon Fire Stick for my NEX 8100 -- I will have it connect to the personal hotspot of my phone. I will keep you posted on my results.
  5. @PaisanNYC - Can you explain your ChromeCast set up in more details. I am thinking of doing the same. Do you need to power the Chromecast with any of the USB ports? I also have the NEX8100.
  6. There is an Off button. For the 8100 it's on the main screen where you see all the icons. There is one for Off. I wiill do a screen shot when I get home.
  7. I would suggest trying another SD Card or maybe trying to upgrade the firmware via USB1. I have the 8100 and I upgraded the firmware using an SD Card and I had no issues. My SD Card was 4GB and formatted to FAT32. I also have the bypass enabled and parking brake grounded.
  8. Thanks for the update -- To be honest, I am done with purchasing all these crazy cables, installing apps and all these crazy configurations to connect my device to the Head unit.. I am pretty content with connecting my ipod Classic to the radio and connecting my phone to the radio via Bluetooth to make and receive calls. Car Play / Android Auto/ App Radio/ Mirror Link / AR Unchained...It all seems to be overkill if you ask me. The next generation pioneer radio should have all this via wifi. No need for all these HDMI, Lightining, USB cable nonsense.
  9. With that being said what is the preferred format [Fat32 or NTFS] for playing media off of an external hard drive and the storage capacity? I understand there are some power constraints as you get larger drives. Also, does the 8100 nex understand id3 tags so I can sort my music by artist, genre, etc. I have all my music categorized in folders where each album is it's own folder. so you will find Micheal Jackson - Thriller as one folder...Just trying to save me the headache of transferring my music to an external device only to find out that it won't work. Right now all my music is on my iPo
  10. How do you know if your handheld device supports MirrorLink? Is there an app on the phone? I have an 8100 Nex and I purchased the MU200 cable and I can't seem to get it working.
