  2. If you have your AVIC-Z150BH hooked up completely, you have both the 1) car speed signal input*, and 2) reverse gear signal input*. With those two wires, the system should operate without a GPS signal. My guess is that you have those two wires connected and may have a poor connection (e.g. loose connection, et al) to the GPS antenna. You can find information on the GPS signal on the Information Screen. * Some installers unfortunately neglect to connect them.
  3. Discontinuance of Waze in AppRadio Mode March 11, 2019 (follow link for details) https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/Discontinuance+of+Waze+in+AppRadio+Mode
  4. Today*, I now have my Samsung phone connected to a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter** (MiraCast) with AppRadio connected to my AVIC-Z150BH working perfectly. Basic setup: A) On the phone you need: 1) AppRadio installed; and, CarKeyBoard installed and set as default keyboard. 'B) On the headunit: Connect the MiraCast USB to the headunit's USB port two*** and the MiraCast HDMI to the headunit's HDMI port. C) On the phone: start MiraCast (this is different for different phones search for specific phone) and connect to the MiraCast Adapter. D) On your headunit: from the
  5. @kofifi, I tested the Google ChromeCast 2 with the AVIC-Z150BH yesterday and it did work for casting videos from YouTube to the head unit. And, the sound came through the automobile speaker system. I was hoping to use AppRadio wirelessly and this also worked but it was quirky. For example, the phone displayed the ChromeCast slash/sleep screen and the phone displayed the AppRadio screen. If I recall correctly you could touch either the phone or head unit's screen in the respective area of the phone's screen and it registered the taps. Anyone else playing with this on the Z series head
  6. This is the service manual for the AVIC-Z150BH & AVIC-F50BT units. (Link at bottom of post.) Request for Help If you're interested in helping, please let me know. Also, if you've already done the modifications listed below for other models, and can share insight, that would also be appreciated. This should work for the 1) AVIC-Z150BH, 2) AVIC-X950BH, 3) AVIC-X850BT*, and 4) AVIC-X8510BT* units -- and the respective European equivalents. Modification Goals I want to do the following items: 0) Map updates (Done Sep. 17, 2016) -- method works the same for 2018 maps and

  11. Any insight if older NEX units can have software updates to "wireless" platform(s)?
  12. Anyone tested this thread's mods, and know if they apply to the 2018 "wireless" platform(s)? E.g. AVIC-W8400NEX., et al
  13. Have you looked into a digital signal processor?
  14. If anyone is using this today -- are the files from 2008 still fairly current today (2017)? (I want to know if it is worth trying to get this working on an AVIC-Z150BH.) If it is not current enough, are there updates? Any information is appreciated. Thanks.
  15. I'm guessing nezfotnemom installed the file before compressing them. Again, I haven't had a chance to do any analysis of the files but noticed the timestamps changed for the folders when the files were uncompressed.
  16. See RonS's post quoted above -- he asks an excellent question. Files (or bit-sized flag information) can be hidden from the user and creating an ISO image could grab everything -- this may be a red herring (or TMI) but is interesting. One thing I noticed as far as a very rough comparison between what I bought and installed and what was posted was directories (folders) did not retain the time stamps, et al. I.e. the folders show the date and time they were uncompressed.
  17. I think you should give RonS's idea a try -- it sounds interesting and I'm very curious if it works. Anyway, the following link is the cable (It was used for the iPhone 4S and earlier 30 pin connections -- replaced by the lightning connector -- but worked on the AVIC-X850BT before the module came out for later iPhones/iPods): http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Accessories/Smartphone-and-iPod-Cables/CD-IU201N Crutchfield has it for $1.99: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130IU201N/Pioneer-CD-IU201N.html?tp=120&awkw=75621747145&awat=pla&awnw=g&awcr=47439289465&a
  18. Excellent question -- I was not able to read it on a PC or a MacOS system. Your described method may be what's needed -- where do I find more information on this? Thanks.
  19. It depends what you have for connections and which head unit you have. I have both the AVIC-Z150BH and AVIC-X850BT units, purchased the map update, have a 30 pin iPhone connector -- used to copy file to via USB connection, and Service Mode. The following are steps I used to copy my files: 1) Boot into Service Mode (a.k.a. test mode)*. 2) Eject SD Card with Service Mode key. 3) Insert Map Update. 4) Connect 8 GB USB drive via 30 Pin iPhone USB connection. 5) Copied the files with Service Mode utilities. If you have more specific questions, you can PM me. * Please note: you hav
  20. Do you have your SD card locked or unlocked? It is supposed to be unlocked.
  21. I am busy with several projects and working with the AVIC-Z150BH and AVIC-X850BT units and every time I switch units in the same vehicle, i.e. remove power, I go through the task of resetting all my presets on AM, FM, and SiriusXM (special HD1-4 stations on the Z150BH), et al, and want to know if anyone is backing these up through Service Mode (a.k.a. test mode). I'm guessing all the WinCE based units are fairly similar. Any help or information is appreciated. Thanks.
  22. The process for installing the update is different from the process of retrieving the files. Retrieving* the files is more likely more technical and irrelevant to installing them. The following link is the installation process information: http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/82414-2016-maps-are-out-for-avic-z150bh-avic-x950bh-avic-x850bt-avic-x8510bt/?p=340669 * I think nezfotnemom plans to do both the retrieving the files and installing them thus proving the installation of the non-standardized process works. And, after that (s?)he plans to post a new thread in the Hacks/Mods Subfor
  23. Possibly, but more, maybe much more, work would need to be done. Start a new posting if you think you're interested in trying to learn how to do this. And, being that this has not been done here -- http://http://avic411.com/ -- publicly that I'm aware of yet, it should be started in the Hacks/Mods area: http://avic411.com/index.php?/forum/47-hacksmods/ Please keep this thread on topic. Thanks.
  24. You can definitely copy the files before installing on the unit but as far as testing I have not done this yet, but I think it should work fine. It is a bit of a process to copy the files (~45 minutes).
  25. It shows the 2016 updates have been released for these units*. The European AVIC-F50BT is equivalent/similar to Canadian/U.S.A/Puerto Rican AVIC-Z150BH. My understanding is that these maps are updated every two years. As far as a rare device, I'm not sure that's true; however, it is an older device and the focus is on newer units. You are correct that there is not much focus on these devices because these were the only series that were released with the architecture on the WinCE platform before being changed to another architecture and OS. Anyway, you may want to also look for information
