Update. got it booted to testmode. Where do i find/dump or remove password? i bought this from best buy as a open box unit and they didnt plug it up when returned to see if it needed clearing (the stereo guy got deployed). They will replace, I just dont want to go to the trouble of ripping the unit out and putting it back in.

Got test mode working. yay! but not sure where to dump/remove passcode on the unit. Any ideas? A lot of the directions i see on forum are for a windows based unit. This is android. -
Ok. So got it booted to test mode and went into file maintenance but not sure where to get/remove password from in the filesystem.

Hey guys. I am trying to get my AVH-4200 into testmode. I have generated the file using the perl script from github like so: perl encode.pl 007SERVICE003ALL00833333333007SERVICE0082013010100820201230000 TESTMODE_A.KEY I then placed it in root of USB drive and plugged into unit and turned it on. It still doesn't boot into testmode. I also tried renaming it to TESTMODE.KEY and also again by making it all lower case on both names. I have also tried both USB ports. Nothing. Am I missing something or is the procedure or string different for the 4200. Ive also tried a few diffe

I am having same issue but on a avh-4200. i tried to generate the testmode_a.key file following gitlab instructions but when I put it on USB stick and turn on the unit it isnt going into testmode. Any ideas?

Did it work. Im in same boat. I bought an open box unit from best buy that had been returned from a previous customer. They didnt check it and when I installed it had a password screen. Now im stuck. Its a avh-4200.
