  1. I took the unit back to best buy. They are replacing something, as of their last email. I am looking again at my backup installation. I find it hard to believe that ford would use the exact same color coded wire for more than 1 circuit. I won't know until the HU is back. I wanted the 4200 series to use google maps, and the Blue tooth phone connection. In Iowa and Illinois it is against the law to to use a hand held device, and I just don't have the multi tasking skills I had when I was... younger
  2. My backup camera sorta works. Let me explain. I have a NEW 4200 NEX with a Backup camera, The camera is a license plate CCD camera. The Yellow RCA is plugged into the Brown receptacle on the HU, The camera power is connected, Red to Black/Purple stripe and Grounded to the Black ground wire at the backup light in the light housing. On the HU the purple white wire is connected to the same Black/Purple Stripe wire under the dash from the Wire Harness. When I start the 2000 Ranger and before the HU boots up, I get the Backup camera to come on and it is transmitting video(while it is in reverse
  3. AHHHHhhhh. Resetting the power did not work, but before returning the unit to Best Buy(with a 4 year warranty), I accidentally stumbled onto this... Press and Hold the {MUTE}+{HOME} 2-5 seconds(hold until the HU beeps) then release, and it EXITS the guidelines for the backup camera and returns to the Home screen. I still have many more settings to set, but I am now back ontrack. Hopefully it will work for Dav448 Thanks
  4. Thanks. Brand new install. Worked yesterday afternoon but not this morning. Had the backup camera in the wrong port, and now that works. I'll try removing the power plug and see if that works. Thanks!!
  5. Great help for Ernest T, but not for the OP. Just like the OP, my 4100/4200 has the same issue, the HU starts with the camera grid lines showing, and I can't get off of the screen. My BU camera does work, putting the truck into reverse and my camera works just fine, however as soon as you take it out of reverse the screen goes back to the Grid lines screen, the home button is not on, (all the other buttons are lit) and even the reset button does not get me past this grid lines screen. Any help for us?
