1. Yeah i agree there. It does seem to shoot faster into the startup screen when its about to freeze. I'm going to see what its doing tomorrow, luckily for me I can press SRCE on my steering wheel control until it hits the iPod and I can still listen to music but for a 2000+ HU this kind of thing shouldn't really be happening *this* frequently to *this* many people. At least I dont think so.
2. Im in Katy. Here's what all I remember happening. I wanted to fix the ground loop so I removed the HU and left it on the passenger seat. Then I went to Radio Shack to buy some stuff, came back and noticed that the unit was pretty hot. The screen wasn't in direct sunlight or anything, it was just sitting facing the inside of the truck. Thing is...I mean...the unit is supposed to be in the freakin truck all the time. lol. That was my issue with it. I did notice it was hot, but if its always in there...anyway, I took it inside and let it cool down. After I reconnected everything, I could sense it
3. Here's mine in an 07 Avalanche. I have full pics of install if you want those as well. If you have any questions about the install let me know. It was actually easy.
4. Funny Im also located in Houston and have had my head unit freeze once before. It came really out of nowhere. My friend and I were driving around and the unit was working fine. I went into Barnes and Noble, came out and it stuck at the Pioneer screen. Hmm. I got home and it was still doing it. After resets and starting the truck up again, it worked just fine. Well today I had to yank my unit out to try and fix a ground loop it had. Well right when I fixed the ground loop, the unit stays stuck at the Pioneer screen. If it was working before, why isn't it working now? I know it isn't the heat be
5. Hey all, just wondering if anyone can help me. I've pretty much run out of options and ideas. I installed a Pioneer Avic Z-1 HU a few weeks back in an 07 Avalanche. At first, with no amp in the system, everything worked great. Soon after I installed a JBL BP1200.1 amp in the truck and grounded it to the brackets that hold up the back seats in the Avalanche. I assumed the brackets hit the vehicle body so I grounded it there. The amp turned on fine but one of the subs was faulty (TC-1000 8") so I took out the subs and the amp. During the removal, the ground wire and the power wire touched and sp
6. How do you upload these into the head unit? Im looking through the book and cant seem to find it...
7. Well I have playlists that are over 200 songs, so unless Im missing something, the only way to get to a song I want on one of these playlists is by having to scroll all the way down till I hit the song right? Having to go to a specific artist every time I want a specific song defeats one of the great features of the iPod.
8. Well since I got my Avic installed yesterday, I've had a complete blast messing around with it. At first I didn't think the iPod interface was as bad as everyone said it was, and I didn't mind waiting the quarter second it took to scroll down. That is until I started driving. It is kinda annoying and was wondering what the possible solutions are. Could this be solved with a firmware update that allows the Z1 to scroll down to say, a letter. It's a real pain having the scroll all the way down every time I want a certain song. Or do you guys think that this should be solved with another faster i
9. Who did the install for you? Here's something I came across when installing it in my 2007 Avalanche. I got instructions on how to do it from a local shop that printed me out step by step instructions. There is a disclaimer on the first page that says "NOTE: All Denali Vehicles must be programmed by a local GMC Dealer for audio. Without programming, there will be no sound." So Im not sure if thats your problem, but sounds like it.
10. Do you guys know if this will work for Sirius as well, or just XM?
11. Yeah I went to some local car audio places today to get quotes on install prices...got quoted 450 dollars for Avic, Sirius, Ipod, Microphone and they also quoted me 180 dollars for the GM Onstar adapter. L O L. Anyway! I've been studying the installation manual religiously these last few days, and am looking to do it myself, the only thing that I dont quite understand are the reverse wire, parking brake wire and the pink speed input wire. Are these to be connected some distance away from the Avic? Since I will be ordering one of your flasher mods, I can just tape up the parking brake wire and
12.

Wow you mean it might have actually become easier to bypass... Downside is people won't need your circuit anymore. Which I guess that does kind of suck.
Yah, that is true. I was hoping that I could still stay in business, but what's even worse, I don't think anyone ever needed my circuit. I think that everyone could have just done this from the beginning, I'm going to test my old unit as well. I think sales just went to 0 and will stay there from now on :) Oh well, it's better to be honest than rich. I'm going to take a bun
13. Wow thanks a lot for the quick response Ducati. I will be placing an order for your circuit probably within the next 2 weeks or so, so I appreciate that. Something that I guess always scares me about HU installation is breaking the clips that hold everything together. I broke a few in my old truck, a 1996 GMC Sierra. I was able to install door speakers, an amp and subwoofers in that truck. I worry that if I pull something the wrong way, or if I attempt to pry a panel off that it will break and then Im stuck replacing a bezel or something. I've heard that there is more space now in the dash whe
14. Girlfriend gave me my early Birthday present today...an Avic Z-1. Not only that, but the production date on it? April 2006. Can't get much better than that...ok here goes the question for you do it yourselfers. I'm installing this thing on an 07 Avalanche, but theres a few install questions. If I do it myself, does it void my warranty? I got a 3 yr warranty with it as well. I plan on installing Sirius (I like it better than XM) on it as well with a tuner as well as the iPod adapter. Would I be better off taking it all to an installer and have them do it? Does the stock antenna fit directly int
15. Theres places on ebay where you can buy it for 1549 and get a 3 yr warranty for 179.99...
