1.
If its anything like the D2, then the poor iPod support isn't from the software its from the lack of a chip that allows the iPod to be fully functional on the unit.
oh wow, im shocked on how a later model unit like avh-p6600 can be weaker than its predecessor the 5700.. that could be why they maybe discontinued the 6600? wow pioneer is awful when it comes to product support
2. Is there anyway to upgrade the software the AVH-P6600DVD to the software thats on the 5700DVD? For some reason they discountinued the AVH-P6600DVD, and the IPOD support on the AVHP5700 is much better (it actually displays the song title, time remaining, allows you to fast forward/reverse, etc)
3. what is the cheapest deal was able to find on an avic-88DVD? or avic-90? and where? also, does it matter if the unit is remanifactured or not? -- i wouldnt think so as it still comes with warranty?
4. Thank you for that! How can I get software updates i.e: if I get the AVIC-80 or AVIC-88DVD? Can I just put in the latest GPS maps and it will update it.. or??

2. Yes It's either the avic 90 or the avic 88. Don't remember for sure.
AVIC-9DVD and AVIC-90DVD will give you navi as well as another DVD player. The same slot can use both navi DVD's as well as DVD-Video. AVIC-80DVD and AVIC-88DVD will give you navi only, its DVD drive is strictly a DVD-ROM. They are all essentially the same with the only dif
5. I currently own a 6600. However, I am in need of GPS and presently am considering upgrading to the N3. One of the major setbacks at this time for me is that with the N3 everytime I want to watch dvd I have to take GPS DVD out, and put DVD movie in... and wise versa. Few questions 1) With the N3, is there a way to buy an addon unit that stores the gps dvds and leaves the in-dash slot free to use for music/or dvds? 2) Is there an addon with the latest maps (v60) that is compatible with Pioneer AVH-P6600 ? Thanks
6. OK Guys, I just got back from Futureshop (Canadian Store) they sell extended warranties. I asked 5 different people (Sales Associates & Managers) "IF I REMOVE THE STICKER WILL IT VOID THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IF i BUY The EXTENDED WARRANTY" they said "NO IT WILL STILL BE COVERED, WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER IT IF THERE IS DAMAGE TO THE DECK OR IT HAS BEEN TEMPERED WITH" so.... in conclusion futureshop does cover the unit for warranty even if you remove the sticker... :D
7. Do these after market warranties cover me if I get the N3 and remove the sticker and switch the switch? Thanks
8. Hello, I currently own a Pioneer AVHP6600DVD unit w/6.5" Screen with the ground break wire hack so I can watch movies while driving. I am going to upgrade to the AVIC-N3 because I am terrible with directions and always get lost... this will be my first navigation unit from Pioneer. I've read briefly through the forums and understand that the Avic N3 is extremly limited out of the box and it doesnt allow you to watch movies while driving. Few questions 1) Is there any other way to enable dvd playback during drive without removing the void warranty sticker on the bac
9. Can you guys tell me if there is anyway to watch DVDs while driving without voiding the warranty? I currently have a AVHP6600 that had to be sent into repairs under warranty because of some problem, and I'm worried if I get the N3 and void the warranty and something happens, they wont fix my N3.. Thanks
10. Thanks for the reply! Can anyone post a picture of what the screen looks like when the IPOD is connected to a AVIC-N3?
11. The first gen is extremly limited, it doesnt display full song title, nor do it allow me to fast forward/rewind unless I switch modes from auto to manual on the settings. How does the 2nd gen improve these things? Can anyone provide screenshots? Thanks
