  1. Grab yourself a GM Sharkfin antenna. Put your gps and XM in it just like GM does. One antenna with 2 recievers in it.
  2. Don't splice into the tailights, that is a PITA, all the wiring you have to run and just in general time consuming. Splice into the wire at A2, light green and black, shown on this picture. It is located on the right side of your sterring column and behind your instrument panel.
  3. Your 08 Silverado has a single wire connection for the xm, it is curry yellow. This will work with a pioneer xm module. You need to just plug unplug your factory antenna at the gm module and file off the little nub on the yellow plastic connector and it will work perfect. Going from Sirius to XM requires an adapter but you can use your factory antenna and wiring for that as well. Go to xm411.com and there are serveral post on how to do it.
  4. This isn't against the TOS for all cell providers. Alltel does this and I have unlimited usage on my Razr. I use Alltel as my ISP, plug my laptop into the phone using a USB cable and then start Motorola Phone tools and wa-la I am on the net. Granted it is slow but it is perfect for traveling and certain updates and such. Cost $30/month to do this. Personally if someone was to do all he wants, he would be better off building a carputer and then hooking up a USB wireless card and recieving the net that way.
  5. Yep you have to chop away. The space in your dash is for a din and half, not a double din. It is exactly like all the Silverado's out there, we all had to do some cutting and make it fit then make your bezel fit by cutting it as well.
  6. Here is where you can get all your Fakra connectors you need. http://www.amphenolrf.com/products/fakr ... 07296617F& You can simply splice the wires together and use whatever end your wires have on as long as you carefully solder the wires and heat shrink them good.
  7. Yes you can splice the pioneer pink connector onto the gm yellow antenna. I did it and it works great.
  8. There is no such thing as a right hand drive 'Vette, I was just making a comment. Corvette will not export to AU, GM will not build a right hand drive 'Vette and therefore AU will not allow it to be shipped in new. Didn't mean to get all your panties in a bunch, wow.
  9. Not sure why your nav unit is working, I just thought I'd state that picture is reversed. Could you imagine a right hand drive Corvette
  10. If they use the same type of wire it is very easy to splice them back together, I did my XM and works perfect. Just try not to cut or add any more length than you have too, because most SMB type antenna are amplified and have a specific resistance.
  11. I think it's a fuseable link. I am not sure though.
  12. I didn't know my own state outlawed the type of video being watched too. I guess I really should pay more attention to the laws that our fine men of the state are passing. Hey at least they raised the gas tax too. Welcome to little Kalifornia. LOL
  13. I was talking about the touch keys yes, I figure if I am reaching to the HU I might as well use the touch screen. I have steering controls so I very rarely reach to the HU. If you have the 10 you should be able to tell in the hardware section, the D3 will pick up the module and tell you about reception and connection, unlike my 920. My guess is you have a Terk.
  14. If your vehicle came with XM from the factory you should only have to unplug the gm module and plug in the new module. You want to plug the new module into the old antenna. If I remember right you have the dual output antenna, but gm splices it somewhere along the line to make it a single Fakra connector. You may have to do some trimming on the connector to get it to fit the aftermarket XM module though. I just installed a 2007 Tahoe XM antenna on my 2001 Silverado and used the Pioneer 920 module. I just spliced the Pioneer antenna to the factory antenna and it works great.
  15. Hmm, you don't know what XM module you have and you want fixes? Answer to question 2. My XM module does do this, I see what station I am on, and the name of the artist, song title and preset all on the screen at once. My presets are the channel number, not just preset 1,2,3.... Answer to question 3. Just hit the up or down and you will scan through all your presets, seems to work fine on mine.
