  1. Thanks HiFiSi and Bleargh...... I have no desire to play DVD movies, so I'll take ur advice and see if my new Verison "Dare" phone links up well with the 700....
  2. I am interested in the F series (I think), but I am NOT an audiophile.... I am mostly interested in a good in-dash GPS, XM radio and bluetooth unit. Which one would best suit my needs for the best price??? Thanks all in advance..... John
  3. hi all,,,, anyone know who makes the nav system in the new 2009 Subaru Forester? I'm told that it is a Kenwood head unit, but I can't find one that looks like it on the Kenwood site. The unit has 2 knobs, one on each side of the 7" screen. Any ideas?
  4. Thanks Batman...... I was sure the dbl DIN in the Tucson was the same size as any other hole. If the factory brackets do not work, then my machinist at work will fabricate a set for me. I think someone DOES offer a harness for my car so I should be alright. Now I just have to find a D3 at a great price.
  5. I own a 2006 Hyundai Tucson with the std. radio (no amp) and I am sure the opening is for a 2 din radio. So why is Crapfield saying NO GO???? Are there other issues besides opening size that come into play for the D3 to operate correctly in the Tucson? Is this 2 din in opening any different than any other 2 din hole?? I've had the dash apart in this vehicle so I now there is room behind there for the D3... Has anyone installed one in a Tucson? The radio opening is in the perfect position on the dash for the non-tilting D3, and I want one. So is Crutchfield right?
  6. Bluemoose and Ike.... These replys are right on about the stink-o navigation of Pioneer nav units. We have been seeing posts like this for a while. If navigation is your main interest, then DEFINATELY go for the Garmin NUVI 660! I have a Garmin Quest II and it NEVER looses sat lock or sends me into never-never land....the maps are complete and accurate. Software upgrades are FREE from their web site. I will buy a D3 just for how it will look in my dash and of course XM and iPod connectivity. Otherwise, my Garmin will nav for me on long trips. My 2cts.

    AVIC D3

The D3 fits almost all 2-DIN H/U openings with an install bracket kit. Best thing to do is go over to Crutchfield and get your D3 there. They have all you will need to install the D3 in your '03 Tundra.
  8. I agree. I have used Garmin (my personal favorate) and Lowrance GPS units. Other things to consider about a GPS system is how well it maintains satellite lock. Nothing worse than the "Lost Satellite" prompt when you are getting close to a series of turns on your route! Lowrance was the WORSE unit .....lost sat lock all the time! No one here is complaining about this, so I suppose the Pioneer units are pretty good on this issue. Nav also is great in a large city like Chicago when you have to leave a known route because you are forced to detour. Being able to see the streets for an eighth o
  9. Well... I believe the base of the antenna should be on a metal surface with the top of the antenna being parallel to and having a clear view of the sky. That is, the antenna can NOT be mounted where the signal from the sats must pass through anything except glass to reach the antenna.
  10. Looks like CF includes everything you need to install your D3..... Connector cable, install cage, and some other accessories. Most of them are included in the CF price, right? Does any other retailer do that? Or is everything needed to install the unit $$optional$$ with the other sellers? How much does the cable and cage cost separately?
  11. Hey, thanks! There is a Tweeter store about half an hour from my house. BTW, did anyone else get the e-mail from Pioneer today with the link to their promotional video on the D3? I just got it. Here it is: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v ... 05,00.html
  12. Is Sound Advise an on-line store or do they have a web site? If not, do you know where they are doing business? Maybe a phone #?
  13. Well, It sounds like the D3 release to the public and availability is just around the corner! I can't wait myself... How about if we start a new thread when the first D3 gets into the hands of one of us here... we could post price paid, store bought, where, and stuff like that to help others with their purchase experience. Thoughts anyone?
  14. Got it,,,... Thanks for the info.....
  15. Are the 70 series maps as good as any other map set? What are the names of the other sets and how are they different? When you say "it will have access to the data" What data are you refering to? I am not a real techhead, but I am tech curious.... thanks....
