  1. ive had a d3 installed in my envoy for over a year now. im having trouble with my gmos-04. it has a gain control on it, and when i turn the gain up, i get great sound, but the awful alternator whine. and the ground is not the problem, ive tried grounding to every different location on the vehicle with the car running and stereo playing with no luck. ive also tried grounding the rcas on the back of the headunit. when i turn the gain control down, i have great sound with no whine, but if i turn up the volume the front speakers cut out then the back ones cut out, back and forth and so on. wonderi
  2. does your vehicle require an interface? on mine (a gmos-04) there is a gain adjustment, and i turned it down just low enough to get rid of the whine. there is still a small whine but very faint and only after 2500 rpm. ive also heard of people grounding their rca connections on the back of the unit.
  3. i had to use the orange white (dimmer) wire on the gmos-04 to get it to work.
  4. i just disconnected my car battery and i guess there is not any memory backup on the d3. has anyone tried fabricating some sort of watch battery or something similar to retain all the information in your d3 when your car battery goes dead? usually i wouldnt care but it takes around 20 minutes to get all the settings back the way they were.
  5. i have an 03 envoy with daytime running lights. i dont know what your using for an interface, but i used the gmos-04 in my install and i had two wire options on it. first i tried the orange wire (illumination) and that didnt work. then tried the orange/white wire (dimmer) and it works great. its hooked to the orange/white wire on the d3. the avic now dims when my dash lights dim. it wont adjust up and down like the dash lights but it does have two settings daytime and nightime. also, the dashlights on gm's dont dim with daytime running lights, just headlights. im sure you knew some of this,
  6. double check that the relocation of the mute wire is correct. from the factory it will be right next to a pink wire. after the relocation it will have an empty slot next to it. also if you use the blue 3M scotchlock splices, they sometimes lose connection on smaller wire. i was having trouble getting my steering wheel interface to work and this turned out to be the culprate. they are really meant for a larger (16 gauge or bigger wire) and unfortunately all of the wiring for this install is pretty tiny stuff. just some stuff to try.
  7. went to ultimate electronics on the last day of the rebate. they didnt have any new units, but picked up a display model for a discount. you guys think i'll still get the rebate? im gonna try. they are an authorized retailer.
