  1. Was using an iPhone 6 on iOS 8.4 jail broken no problems. Got an iPhone 6s on 9.0.2 and when I press talk button on steering wheel (assigned to Siri with maestro interface) I now get the new ios 9 Siri bing-bing sound and about 1 second later I get the old iOS 8 Siri bing-bing which cancels out the first one. Anyone else having this issue?
  2. Is there any chance a different USB drive would work? Have other people found that a different USB drive works when another one does not? What about USB 2 vs USB 3, is there any issue with one or the other being recognized by NaviExtras? Most of these seem unlikely but since the software won't even see the USB drive, I'm just not sure what to do.
  3. Just purchased 8100 and following the Pioneer documentation to update the map software using a USB drive with NaviExtras Toolbox. Following all instructions to the letter... appropriate size drive, format FAT32 on computer, run SyncTool in USB1 on 8100, insert into computer and run NaviExtras Toolbox... always says "No Device Conneted". I've tried this on two computers running Windows 7 and same situation. This is very frustrating. Any other way to get the map update info that would come from NaviExtras toolbox downloaded onto my USB drive? Thanks.
  4. Thanks. This worked. A shame Pioneer couldn't be this straight forward with the instructions.
  5. I tried copying the whole download folder over to the formatted USB drive and this did not work, got an error from the HU stating "copy only the correct update file and try again". Nowhere in any of the documentation on updating the firmware does it indicate which of the 30+ files in the download folder is the "correct file". There are several files that are large (i.e.; >200MB) but would hate to guess and get the wrong one. Anyone updated their 8100 to 1.03 that can tell me the correct update file name within the firmware download folder?
  6. I did pay them $15 for the module. Given that I have no install skills and they are a very well-respected company with whom I've done business on numerous occasions, I feel comfortable with how things turned out. Good to know there is an on-screen option and will keep in mind for the future. Thanks for the info.
  7. The procedure listed by Pioneer for updating the firmware of the 8100 to 1.03 states: "Connect a blank (formatted) SD card or USB storage device to your computer, and then locate the correct update file and copy it onto the storage device." When I look in the "AVIC5100NEX" folder (I did double check that the firmware download folder for the 8100 is, in fact, titled 5100 for some odd reason) there are a handful of folder and a handful of files. All of them have names that seem to have relationship to the 8100, the 1.03 firmware, or anything else that seems helpful. I'm uncertain how t
  8. NaviExtras won't recognize my SD card either. This seems unnecessarily frustrating. Is there another location online to download the same content provided by NaviExtras?
  9. SpecTrax, can you share the specific steps you took? I have done the following: 1. Format USB drive for FAT32. 2. Insert USB drive into USB cable from 8100 and run SyncTool. 3. Insert USB drive (now formatted and with SyncTool completed) into computer which is not recognized by NaviExtras. Can you share how the above would be modified or augmented to complete the process that worked for you? Thanks very much in advance.
  10. Thanks, 493008. That was also useful. I'm still trying to figure out the off-center fix. I posted the question to the guys that did the video you shared and perhaps they will have feedback. Much appreciated.
  11. Hmm. You got my attention with the ASL. I actually find this a useful feature but makes sense it can't work if the HU doesn't know the speed. May need to have my installer connect the wire if for no other reason than this one. Thanks again. Very succinct and helpful overview!
  12. Thanks. The HU itself sees the USB drive and will run through the SyncTool process without any issue. It's my computer that isn't seeing the USB drive. Are you suggesting that, even though the USB port on the HU that I have used seems to be seeing the USB drive and performing the SyncTool operation, I should still try the other USB drive on the HU?
  13. After my 8100 was installed and the installer did a "bypass" using a module that they typically use, the nav screen said "Speed Limit wire is not connected. Will operate in Simple Hybrid Mode." What does that mean?
