  1. I am crossing everything I have two of and knocking on wood as I post this, but I think the problem has been solved. After trying everything else we could think of, the installer decided to move the switched power input away from the CANbus adapter and pull directly from an existing switched power source (cigarette lighter in this case) and I am going on one week with no location specific crashes. I still have no idea why this specific location caused the issues in the first place, but at this point things appear to be working as they should. FWIW, I believe that the CANbus adapter
  2. I have not tried to simulate driving through the area yet, but I will give that a shot. I doubt it is related to map encoding as it never did this in my previous car. On top of that, I have a replacement unit from Pioneer that has the same reset issue as the actual F90 I bought about a year ago. I recently took a week long road trip to Southern California and never once had a reset issue so this is not something that is happening after a certain amount of run time or anything like that. We spent as much as 5 straight hours driving and never once had an issue with the unit other than dri
  3. We have now replaced the GPS antenna as well and I am still having the same issue. Any ideas?
  4. I live in the Sacramento, CA area and am having a very strange re-boot problem with my F series (F90). The system will shut down and re-boot in the same general area on the freeway between the Northgate and Truxel off ramps. It happens to me on my way to work and on my way home in the same location and has never happened in any other area. I have already had my unit exchanged by the stereo shop I went to - they did an exchange with a refurbished unit from Pioneer and the same thing happens with the fresh unit. I took one of the guys from the shop on a little freeway trip just after the ne
  5. Yes, I know that but exactly what is in service mode? I mean, does it give you full instructions how to get in to the service mode? What can you do from there? I hope it's more than just couple of simple options. This PDF will not help much with that. You need to have access to Pioneer's service site to download an "ID file" that you put in the "test mode" folder on your SD card to access service mode. It gives you prodecures (if you can acceess test mode) to test things like: audio GPS receiver Gyro Flash ROM FM Multiplex error test Graphics Version Info Touch Panel D
  6. I got a lot of wind noise when I had my mic by the rearview mirror on my 05 Subaru. That is also where my radar detector is mounted and it would scare the crap out of the people I was talking to when it went off. I found that the top of the A-Pillar worked best for me (niether place works when the windows are down) and ended up molding in and color matching an old tweeter grille to hide the microphone...
  7. I ended up molding in a tweeter housing and color matching it to the gauge pillar in my car. This area seemed to give the best call quality and the mount supplied by Poineer did not look right or point the mic at the driver in this location.
  8. Thanks for the answer. It's not the one I had hoped for but at least it saved me about $35.
  9. Will the Sony RM-X4S allow you to change sources/volume before the unit is fully booted or does it suffer from the same delay the touch screen controls have? I hate it when I park the car at night playing the iPod and have to wait a minute before I can switch to the radio on my way to work in the morning...

    back up camera.

I have the ND-BC20PA camera, and it comes in handy when trying to squeeze my car in the garage around all the stock parts I have pulled off, and my spare set of wheels/tires. Backing in to a parking space it gives you grid lines that help align the car in the space: And at the press of a button it simulates a top down view of what you are backing in to: It takes some time to get the settings right but it is well worth the extra money in my opinion. The picture quality is not great, I think it was designed for the previous decks that did not have the screen resolution the F s
  11. Nice work! I wish I was that cool with an STI...I'm only rockin a 2008 outback sport. But I love the little thing! I have been thinking about offing the thing and getting a Forester XT, but I don't like the new body style. The car is a blast to drive, but it's just not big enough anymore with an 18 month old child.
  12. I figured I better do that just in case someone tried to pull a Ferris Bueller on me. Well, that and I did not want them to get in to an accident when the car falls flat on its face when they were trying to merge. The look on the guy's face that did my alignment after the suspension install was priceless (pre AVIC and pre warning screen), I think he thought he had broken something.
  13. A few I made - I bet you can guess what make vehicle I drive... And for the rare occasion that my car is in for service or valet parked:
  14. I have been going to Auto Radio on Madison for quite a while as well, who left recently? I don't believe that any of them could or would be involved with anything like this, I think it was just dumb luck the first time and the area the second time. I have had 3 radios stolen in the last 8 years - all of them were at or near Birdcage (Target, Best Buy and the old Orchard Supply)...
