  1. Defineatly a good improvement. Everything they said is fixed. One major thing is you don't need to get off the phone if you arn't in your car and want to go drive. It doesn't just disconnect it for 30 seconds or whatever it used to do. Now it switches over. The phone icon stuff doesn't show up though but it's usable. This is a feature i defineatly need.
  2. Good info. I could do with 40 gigs or less, no real need for video, probably 20 gigs would be fine. Nothing to add, i was just waiting to hear if this worked. Thanks for trying this everyone.
  3. I meant to ask about an external power source. I know with SD or any media cards, sometimes it can't handle more than advertised, alot of digital samplers use cards. I've never heard of usb being a problem in terms of size so i was wonder if i'm wrong on that.
  4. First, my car has an immobilizer system stock and with a shock sensor, it basically has what i'd pay for in a decently high dollar system paying just for the shock sensor. Secondly, every aftermarket alarm system i have had myself (only 1) and most of my friends have had problems over time with aftermarket alarms in cars with legit alarms. Lastly, this would work great in instances where i'm about to leave somewhere i've been but if i'm running inside to 7-11 to grab a beer or stopping to pick somebody up, i may as well leave my car on (but i can't lock my car with the ignition on with
  5. I have most of the issues named. One other, phone takes too long to be functional. My call is switched to bluetooth on device before device can deal with it. On my last one, it was instant, on this, it takes long enough for someone to hang up on me and freezes more often than not if they do stay on the line.
  6. Let us know. I didn't even think about this until after i bought the unit, i would only use it for road trips but it would be real nice to have.
  7. Yup, almost everytime, worse with navi on. As for the update, 99% of my problems were not fixed. Some things i didn't consider to be a problem (touch screen senstivity and brightness) were improved but nothing else. I feel i'm in the "pre beta" stage personally and can't believe they are rereleasing it after the update. I'm still relatively content with mine but i can see how people are not happy.
  8. I've made many cables as i own a home studio and it is often both cheaper, and you get a better cable making your own. Never had any problem with RCA cables. Just make sure you don't try to take an old cable with a molded plastic end and strip, you need to buy a new end you can actually solder to the existing wiring. Neutrik is a good source. Or, go to guitar center and buy "Live Wire" cables with metal connectors if you need something local.
  9. Yup, you get everything you would get when the car is stopped (because the unit thinks that it is stopped). Until they actually make it based on you speed by satilite, any unit should function in the same fashion.
  10. Ok, we all know the boot time is irritating. And thus far, it seems it can't be fixed. My only problem is when i stop for a short period of time, say a convience store and have to wait 1 min again for it. I'm looking for something to keep it on during short stops where i may be 5 min. maximum, maybe 1 min. Right now, i'm thinking about putting a turbo timer on switched 12volt source. Obviously, this would do the trick. However, that's one more thing i have to find a spot for in my car and they are not small enough to hide easily but still remain accessable to defeat it. I could pu
  11. I just did the update, the screen is much better at night and the touch screen is so much better (after it has totally booted up). I haven't even driven though, i'll update tomorrow. One major thing for me, dropping calls when going to blue tooth when on the phone before starting your car is still a problem.
  12. Mine worked fine, now it is iffy. I'll try tomorrow when i actually have time to test the new stuff.
  13. Yeah, i was hoping not to get a universal one because it seems that pioneer makes one and hopefully look better. They won't respond to my e-mails. But yeah, i'll give it a try, i can pick that up locally. As for install stuff, it's in my car and working, i got that done in the first hour it was in my hands
  14. Like everyone said, defineatly wait. I have to be honest though, i was more satified with the unit before i found there is going to be an update becasue i'm sick of waiting. The only real issues i personal have is boot time (which supposadly will not get fixed) and the fact it drops my calls if i'm on the phone and get into my car (i have another BT device i can use to solve this, as well as have navigation commands while on the phone). So, with everything wrong with it, i am still relatively happy as is.
  15. I can find universal ones on crutchfield, nothing on ebay. I know the part number is 12.301130-04 but i can't find where to order it. I'd much rather go with a pioneer one than universal.
