  1. YARRGH me too!! I thought I was crazy!! See my ranting post. Movies no longer play. It "reads" the music fine but no audio.
  2. Please stop. He didn't do any of that, he was just musing what's possible with test mode. You still have to get over the complication of actually writing to the system. Which he didn't. You want to shut me up? Take a picture of you running winamp for WinCE or any other CE5.0 application. Until then, please just stop. Also, CatchMeIfYouCan631 I've already pointed this out once before, I did just that. I put in my SD card, copied the files from the AVIC to the SD, but the reverse is not possible yet. you dont have to bold your words i read what you wrote the first time. and secondly not onc
  3. Yes, open up My Computer. As I recall, its in there. By the way, if you are not too experienced... I wouldnt mess with it.
  4. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 990#108990 Looks like ballmatic has our answer.
  5. ...I already wrote this in teh FIRST post of the thread: "I used this to copy and back up my f90bt's file system onto my sd card." Edited: Have you put anything TO the desktop? I partially misread his post. But if you can copy a file to the desktop of the Windows CE, then the file system is writable.
  6. Yes, obviously with the update last night I know they can be written to. I even specifically without using their Flash ROM writer all you can do is pull stuff off the flash, not write to it. Please reread my comment above Have you tried? Not that I would recommend modifying the system, but I have a hard time believe that it is not writeable. It is no more Read Only than the SD card you insert for the update. They are all Flash ROMs. It shows up in My Computer as a standard drive from what I recall. How about this. How about YOU try. You're missing the point and getting hun
  7. I have not tried, but I assume so. Remember, the "Desktop" is part of the AVIC-F's on board Flash Drives file system. So in essence copying files to it is writing to the Flash drive. My concern is with messing up the drivers and applications installed that run the AVIC GUI that we see under normal operation. I seriously doubt putting files to the desktop will affect that. Just dont go messing around in the program files area. Exploring (viewing) is fine, I probably will do that some this evening. Just don't delete!
  8. It doesnt work from the menu or settings screen (which is bad design IMO - it should ALWAYS work). It should work from the NAV or music playback screens.
  9. The disk inside was floppy. Otherwise, good points. I stand incorrect. Semantics. I still would not touch the data on the drive at any rate. Ugh, I apologize for coming off so cranky as well. Lots of cranky folks around here... its really frustrating dealing with the problems on this system.

  11. Have you tried hooking up a keyboard? I wonder why that would not work? As in the other thread though, the flash disk can be written to. But I certainly don't plan on trying!
  12. They aren't ROMs, actually. They're RAM. By ROM's very name, it can't be changed, being read only memory and such. That's why they came up with the acronym "RAM", so people could randomly access the memory. Flash memory is EEPROM: Electrically Eraseable and Programmable Read Only Memory. These, very much like Flash ROMs can be written to. CD ROM can be written to as well! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_memory So, ROMs can be written to.... its semantics at any rate. Its just an old term - like calling a 3.5" floppy disk floppy, even though it was not. The point i
  13. Ok, thats what I found in the manual as well. Have to think about it some, those could get rather annoying, or I should maybe just get in the habit of not displaying the NAV screen when driving around town. Mine has never done that, and I haven't installed the update yet! Mine did that pre and post update. Its the least of the problems I am having. Still...
  14. 30 GB Ipod video. It played for a while, even a movie played. Then the VR Catalog error showed up and it shows all the songs, and tries to play them but no sound. The sub woofer stopped working as well. No wiring changes have happened since I parked it in my garage last night and this morning. Granted I have a non standard 16GB SD card, and technically should have nothing bigger than 8GB, but when I put the card in it is SO SLOW to read it... its absurd. The call quality is definitely fixed but trying to connect to my phone is like pulling teeth. I need to DRIVE, not F ar
  15. Sure you can. What do you think an SD Card or USB Thumb drive is? They are actually Flash ROMs and can be written to. It doesnt make much sense to call them ROMs, but they are. I actually wish I was a Linux Guru, because it now seems possible to put Linux on these drives. Windows CE and Mobile are notoriously clunky. I am farily certain a good deal of processes are loaded that the 900Bt does not need.
  16. Hahha yeah I thought that was a fun toy too. But it actually has improved the AVIC. Touch screen response, while not perfect is MUCH improved - and now within the realm of usability. The Nav voice and beeps are much much cleaner - I never really noticed how bad they were. Screen is MUCH brighter. At 8/10 brightness its easily twice as bright. Great fix. Still slow to boot and slow to allow reverse screen. I will play with it more later. I am a happy camper.
  17. It would seem so. They at least recognize them, hopefully they corrected them.
  18. THANKS!!! I wish I had a dang SD car writer at work! Will have to wait till I get home...
  19. Mine is terrible according to the people I call. VERY frustrating to use. I actually moved the mic in all sorts of different positions to no avail. Wierd thing is that voice recognition seems to work. I might try plugging in a higher quality mic and see if that helps.
  20. Even if they don't fix all or most of the problems, as long as they can easily allow us to patch our product, I am ok with it. Most software houses rely on patches these days unfortunately. But, take a look at the Xbox360, the PS3, ipod, etc etc, they have all gotten better over time because of patches. Pioneer just needs to show me that they are indeed focused on improving the system, and I am happy.
  21. Hmm I also have the Sprint 8330, and while it takes a long time to connect, I am pretty certain I was able to make calls via my phone book. I think it transferred all of them, but did not double check. Its moot for me as the call quality is so poor for the remote party that I have turned it off. They all say I am in a wind tunnel. I have literally turned the AC off, and held the mic in my hand, moving it around the cabin and trying different spots - as close as 12" from my face, to no avail.
  22. I am using a 16Gb Patriot SDHC - and it works... at least as well as my 1Gb patriot.
  23. Here are a list of software bugs I would like to see fixed in order of importance. I know that Pioneer is reading this, and despite the bugs I like the system, and want to do what I can to help (too bad I can't get an SDK and the code for it hehe). AVIC F900BT in a 2008 Nissan Rogue bypass hack enabled speed control connected Kenwood CCD-2000 reverse camera Pioneer Pioneer CD-IU230V iPod video cable 30Gb Gen 5 iPod video attached Pioneer Pioneer GEX-P920XM XM module Sprint Blackberry Curve 8330 connected via BlueTooth GPS antenna connected and active
  24. Sure, research and development on the F-series must have cost a pretty penny, and I am sure they would like to recoup.
