Well after some research, trying to decompile the executables (which I cannot fully accomplish since they are ARM Windows CE (though surprisingly I have found a linux tool which will work) it looks like Pioneer farmed out much of the script and actual code work to China. Also trying to follow the script flow I am seeing some really bad programming practices. Its real spaghetti code, even for a script. There are multiple copies of the same files in different directories for crying out loud! Anothe problem I am having, I am trying (using Winzip 11.2) to uncompress/modify/recompress the d

Yea I had already tried those tools but the emulator fails to install on my 64bit vista :/ Trying it on 32 bit Vista now...

Well, so long as you have a back up of your address book, delete all the entries ont he phone and see if it helps.
-
Well I had one entry for: Stephanie and another for Stephanie Both had different phone numbers. I removed the second one and it worked! Since you sync it, empty out the whole thing and try again.
-
Check your address book and make sure you don't have the same name in there twice.

I tried it for the blue boxes and it didn't work. :/ It was one of the first things I tried, and I'mnot sure why it didn't work. Edited for clarity: Although there are two kinds of file (visual elements, versus scripts) they all have the same file name of .ui which makes it confusing. The stuff that is in the 800_480\ui directory is almost all visual elements; the stuff that is in the common\ui directory is almost all scripts. Visual elements like and so on, can be turned on and off, or have any properties, manipulated by the scripts. So even though a visual element like the boxes or

Hmm it looks like on the pioneer.ini on the data.zip file, there is a parking_break_speed=16.0. Changing that to 200.0 might be a software method to this hack.

Guide to .bmp files inside the Flash Disk
tacomaboy replied to CatchMeIfYouCan631's topic in Hacks/Mods
Have you copied the entire contents from the flash drive to an SD card for perusal on the Mac, or are you perusing on the AVIC itself? I have a 16GB SD card and if it can fit I would rather copy all the contents onto it so I can browse it on my PC... How large is it? -
Very sweet, thanks!

I found http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en and http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en But at work I run Win Server 2003 x64 so it wont install on this system. I definitely plan on running it at home.

I have a new thread http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17542 Could you attach it there for easy finding? Thanks.

Well my wife agrees with you it seems, so I cancelled it for now. But now i need the dang updates so I can fix the font and blue boxes...and sounds.

I thought about that. If it doesnt sell, I wont relist it, just try and be very patient. If it does sell, I will be ok, I will lose some money, but I am going to get the Pioneer FH-P8000BT since it has 60% of the same function and has excellent reviews. So... we will see. Reserve is 775 which I know is high for the unit alone, but I am tossing in a a reverse cam and 16Gb SD card - so it may or may not sell. With my damned luck Pioneer's second fix will come out right after I sell and will fix the boot up problem lol
-
Somehow I lost the original Pioneer Updates which allowed me to boot into WinCE mode. Looks like Pioneer has updated their site with a single SD card fix, not two. Anyone have the original ones they can send to me? I thought it was on here, but I cant seem to find it.

Now THIS would be cool. I tried once just messing with mine, and it was such a PITA with my laptop (which is more of a erm desktop replacement with a 17" screen and weighing in at like 10 pounds) bumping against the steering wheel.

If it doesnt sell on ebay in the next 4 or 5 days, I plan on copying someone's files! Maybe adding up the small fixes like getting rid of the blue boxes and fixing the clock color, and even changing the awful gong can make it more bearable. I do hate to get rid of it because I will be losing a lot of money. Looks like 3 or 400 bucks in fact!

No more lawsuit? Well it does fix one major problem.... still.. was this a Pioneer defect or a Blackberry one. I think it was a Pioneer defect. It should not have happened, but I am very glad someone found the fix.
-
Well ring my bell it worked! I had one double entry. Removed the second one and shazam! Now fix the bootup and sluggishness for me hehe.

no offense but if my friend recommended this to me, and I paid 850 or whatever for it, we would not be friends long. At the very least I would never ask for his recommendation again. Even if you are ok with the bugs, how can you recommend it? Personally the only bug that still remains for me is the boot up time. everything else has either been fixed by Pioneer or members of this forum. So I would recommend it any day. Also there is no other unit on the market that's as customizable as this unit. As I'm typing this I'm creating a custom skin for the voice commands menu which I'll

OMG yes they are annoying. And almost useless... I should in a perfect world, be able to click on one and get directions and gas prices! THEN they would be neat. As it is they are mostly just annoying.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH wouldnt that be something

I've got a fix to the slow boot up issue
tacomaboy replied to blwnv8's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
Its a good effort, but IMO its like trying to fix a severed arm with a band aid. -
Well its nice to know I am not the only one who really hates the bootup time. I wonder why other brands dont have this problem, what have they done differently?

Warranty, and possibly the landmark display (still not sure about this)
