  1. My Homer Simpson moment. Did the same thing last time I updated. Doh. Thanks much
  2. I lost my iphone's music. It shows its playing but there is no sound. Like it was muted for a call. Still not the slighest difference in voice recognition. Trying to make a call is still a ridiculous exercise in futility. I say Call Name. Its says whatever it feels like. Call quality. Still unusable. Tried one by hand just to see. Was told I sound like I am in a well. This may just require moving the mic which I was waiting to do until after the latest update. All in all, if I could get the dealer to pull it, put in my old unit, and give me a refund I would do it. I see no re
  3. I am on an iPhone. How do you edit and load the database for your phone manually?
  4. So HiFi, what did you do and what did you do differently than before? Just curious. They are supposed to reposition my mic this week but other than that I am at a loss.
  5. Pioneer opened a ticket on this issue for me which means I am supposed to call them back in two weeks to get an answer. I got the same idiotic answers about it worked on some phones and not others even within the same phone. When I asked them about their onsite videos of an iPhone working perfectly I was told their marketing person had had no problem and that was his phone! Frankly, I am getting a little annoyed at the time and trouble my new unit is causing me. And suspect that the Pioneer videos are falsified which borders on fraud to me. I have never spent a lot of money on a unit l
  6. Bottom line: This product is expensive and clearly not ready for primetime. The consistency in every thread on this forum is that some features works sometimes but not all features most of the time. Pioneer needs to answer for putting a badly designed product that does not work out to the marketplace.
  7. Maybe its the symbols the iPhone is using. Parenthesis. Not sure but the fact is it works when I edited the name.
  8. I have discovered that it wont recognize long names. my iPhone had some soundtrack albums as name of the album plus (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack [special Double Album]). I had to hand edit the titles down in the iTunes software but now they are recognized. Still no luck with an iPhone and recognizing contacts.
  9. I am a little confused by the voice dialing working for some and not others. I have the 'old' iPhone and as I said in my first post it does recognize a number to call when I speak the digits. It also will change source pretty accurately. I did suggest to the installer that they try and wire the unit to the built in mic I have for my Onstar. Not sure if that would help if we did it. From reading I guess all the cool music controls are only for the iPod so I might have to get the cable after all. I did connect it with the standard iPhone cable and the unit indexed all my music very quickly.
  10. Screen is brighter. Calls are pretty clear. My older friend could here me clearly. Voice recognition is spotty. It would dial a spoken number but I could not get it to recognize a single name in my contacts list. It would change sources but would not change albums but I am not sure if that works with discs or just with iPods. Start up time is the same or worse. I guess that is something we will all have to live with. I am sure there is more but I have not experimented with everything yet. The update went smoothly even though it was a bit complex. Interested to read
  11. Thanks Geo. Its good to know their are absolute morons on every forum. In future when I want your opinion, I will give it to you. Asshole.
  12. Am I the only one then who finds it unreadable in most conditions? Its a far cry from the readibility of the D1. What good is a nav screen you can't read? Or are we just supposed to use the voice nav prompts and the nonworking voice controls for this joke of a unit. I am feeling like quite the fool right now for upgrading.
  13. Also, will the update brighten the screen? Its barely visible in a variety of day time light conditions.
  14. Had my 900 installed yesterday. The microphone is placed at the top of the window on the drivers side on my 2004 Hummer. Calls are completely unintelligible in normal traffic and normal speeds. No voice commands are recognizable. The dealer says the Pioneer rep says the thing does not work and will work when they come out with a firmware upgrade in the near future. I think the mic needs to re repositioned and/or wired into the existed Onstar mic above the drivers seat. My iPhone paired with no problem and my contacts transferred up to the ridiculous 400 number limit. Ge
