  1. Assuming you have an automatic transmission, there should be a plate covering where the clutch linkage passes through the fire wall on a manual transmission truck. You can remove this plate and drill it for a grommet. I installed mine before I knew about that plate, I put a slit in the boot for my factory harness and passed the wires through there. Look on page 3 of this pdf: http://www.genosgarage.com/installation_instructions/GGInstall-DG-GaugeInstallTips03-09.pdf Here is how I mounted my camera in the tailgate handle: http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/showpost.php?p=2
  2. I saw the Z110BT marked down to $806 at my local Fry's Electronics last week. By the time I would get raped the 8.1% sales tax it would've been $871 out the door. They were sold out down to the well abused floor model.
  3. FYI, your order total has to be over $900 for the pio530 coupon to work. I tried just ordering the head unit alone for $869.99 and the system said my order total was not high enough to use the coupon. I added the ipod cable and got my order total to $919.98 and the coupon code worked just fine. I had a friend order me a third one on Friday for the wife's jetta. I spoke to the sales person at al-eds.com, she told me there should be no problem submitting the MIR with the "instant price match rebate" on the receipt. I sent one in last week, so we'll see.
  4. For those wondering about the Z110 ipod interface, here are my observations after installing mine last week: It is everything it should be using my 30GB ipod video. The Ipod interface for the Z2 I just replaced was terrible. It took forever to scroll and was very slow. The Z110 interface is very fast and has no lag on music. There is a slight lag on loading the videos, maybe a second. The menu is very intuitive for me. I don't have a touch or iphone yet. Maybe the music sphere thing will be cool, maybe not, but I didn't hesitate to get the Z110 now for the discounted price. If I ca
  5. How is the viewing angle of the nav unit in the GTI/Jetta dash? With the relaxed angle of the VW dash is the video screen still usable during the day? I don't think the Z110BT will tilt the screen down. I have one in my Dodge 2500, but I'm looking down at a nav screen that is vertical and doesn't get much glare. I'm debating on putting a Z110BT in the wife's 2009 Jetta TDI sedan. Thanks!
  6. How about the instant price match rebate purchases?
  7. I'm in the same boat on the instant price match rebate for two of these units. With $400 outstanding I sure hope these go through. There was nothing on the web site about the MIR not being valid if there was a price match.
  8. Without the coupon mine was $691 after MIR with the instant price match web link on their web site. I ordered another one for my dad today. When I tried the coupon code I got an error: Coupon not available. Possible reasons: - the coupon code you entered is incorrect; - the coupon can be used only by a registered customer; - the coupon is disabled or expired. I was logged in, so I guess they sold out or it expired.
  9. Mine arrived from them this morning, all looks good.
  10. Anybody have any experience with the first gen touch and the Z2/Z3? Does it charge? Thanks
  11. Good info on the second gen Touch not charging. I generally leave my Ipod in the truck unless I'm traveling by air. Can anyone confirm if the first gen does or does not charge? Thanks!
  12. I tried searching for this before posting. I'd read somewhere that many of the older Ipod accessories do not work with the new second generation Ipod Touch. My 30GB Ipod Video just died, so I'm looking at replacing it with a Touch model. Can anyone confirm that the first or second generation Ipod Touch works with the Z2/Z3 through the Pioneer Ipod interface? Thanks, Mitch
  13. Mine still says updating, but it is working fine. I live in Phoenix, the traffic service is definately active here. Some smaller cities have poor coverage for the system. I do have in issue with the speed of the service. Many times I'm 5 minutes into a traffic jam and it still shows all green, or I'm approaching a red area and the traffic is flowing freely. I think this service would work much better in San Diego or LA, where the traffic speeds are available for every mile or so electronically.
  14. I just installed a new in box Z2 in my truck. After 2 days if using it I got the freeze on a 100 degree day (Cool for Phoenix). Am I better off installing the firmware update from Pioneer's website, or should I just order a Z3 drive from the forum? Are there any problems that the Z3 software fixes that are not addressed by the firmware update? I am/was really stoked on this deck. If it works I'll keep it, if this will be a reoccuring problem living in Phoenix I'll have to get something else. If it isn't staying I'll be highly upset since I got the full package with the XM navtraffic
