  1. Yep, we had a grumble at work about this the other day.. Apple is quite blatant on nickel and diming accessories.. The two power specs are a bit different: Firewire charging (AVIC, old style): 1.5A/25v USB charging (iphone, new style): 500mA/5v Apple did USB+Firewire charging in 2004. They discontinued Firewire charging in late 2005, about a month before the Z1 was released. Probably just enough time for Pioneer to go "oh crap.."
  2. http://www.scosche.com/passport Passthrough that converts old firewire charging the Z1/2/3 uses to the usb format that the ipod/iphone use. $30, preorders now
  3. or just do both thru the av cables.. The pioneer ipod interface is quite pokey..
  4. I put mine up as high as I could under my dash above the passenger side footwell against the firewall. I think it comes with velcro? I don't think the backup camera has a box, but some place it outside above the plate (stock Pioneer), or replace the trunk lock with a camera that fits the hole.
  5. search for 'camera', 'reverse', backup, tons of threads on this.
  6. Z-series library is weak (imo), as is the slow Ipod interface. I've found it's a much better experience hooking into the aux composite cables, and using an external mp3 player. Unfortunately there's no real USB interface for the Z-Series, otherwise you could slap a 1TB drive under the seat..

Apple store might be a good place to start. ) You need composite RCA connectors.
  8. You're assuming throwing a silent error/exception is less costly than reading a 0kb file. And that it causes no other side effects (memory leaks etc.) Sorry.. my nerd is showing.. -dp
