Well i'll give my 5cents. the DVD or CD units sometimes have a separate service manuals and are referred as "models", i don't have the d3 SM but in previous models there is no reference for region code changing, only states that /uc subfix hardware is for region 1 and /wc for 2. i suspect region coding is on firmware but i do not know any way to change the drive firmware. Only with a dedicated jig wich costs like the whole unit! Another option would be to swap the dvd unit from a region 2 model.

HI all, i have a d3 that has a back screen with the message "insert the appropriate disk" for what i have seen in other models seems like an wrong upgrade, could someone tell me wich is the original navi disk for it. Thanks

would someone be so kind to post the original avic-s1 mnavdce.exe file located in My Flash disk>Navigation> mine was corrupted and now i got "fatal error" loading mnavdce.exe when i try to boot the pioneer firmware. Thanks

every time i start the avic-s1 i get this error msg"EXCEPTION Memory allocation failed! line 5174 Error:87" if i press ok several times it changes to: "Fatal Application Error Application MNAVDCE.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor. Program: MNAVCE.exe Exception:0xc0000005 Address:0015BF70 " It seems that the nav app is causing some error, is there any way to get the original app?.

OK, i did the z3 mod and it worked like a charm!, just one detail to remark is that i never needed to unlock the drive! Maybe if you remove the battery and the ignition power together it won't lock-up? worth trying.

Ok now i understand, the unit is not mine, seems that the owner tried to update with a z3 version and that's why it didn't start at first! guess that my best choice is to remove the hdd and do it in a PC.

I had that problem (unable to update due to non boot)i forced write in service mode, but when i did so i noticed that version was something like 3.000** i know latest is platform:2.000500 hdd app: 2.140000! now when i reset the unit it says:"THERE IS NO APPLICABLE PROGRAM" , the unit is a Z2 sept 07. i went to service mode and it says: PLATFORM [2.000500] RECOVERY [2.000000] BOOTLORDER [2.000000] CPU CORE[00000004] APL PROGRAM[uNKNOW] GPS PROGRAM[1.200000]. now notice that apl program is unknow, my question is does anybody know how can i get the apl? is in the pioneer test disk?

Hi everyone! I just registered to the forums but i been reading it for a while, first of all i want to say a big THANK YOU!! to all of you. I'm an electronic tech with almost 20 years of experience always specialized in audio, and since 5y ago only car audio (trucks and boats too!, damm i hate boats!!)i have a team of installers while i the repairs and the projects.
