I just wanted to contact everyone with an update: Pioneer customer service was pretty much uninterested in helping me, not sympathetic to my situation whatsoever and while some of them were nice at first, after they found out and informed me that my radio has no serial number they spoke to me like I was a criminal and informed me I was S.O.L. I managed to get the number of the repair manager and called him every day for 4 days trying to speak to him to explain my situation, since he wasn't returning my calls I sent in an email containing my receipts for every pioneer product I've purchased and

Never mind.. I did the obvious and downloaded the manual, didn't think of that until after I posted. For anyone interested, it seems you select what city you're interested in and it always saves the latest traffic/weather recording from the corresponding SiriusXM traffic/weather channel and plays it from the beginning when you press the button. I'd copy and paste the text but I can't get it to copy.. It's on page 163 of the manual.

I'm curious.. I noticed Pioneer's site for the 8100 NEX states "Traffic and Weather Now!" from SiriusXM, and that is also listed as a feature of the SXV300 tuner. I know the 8000 gets traffic over FM, so what exactly is this Traffic and Weather service from SiriusXM and how is it represented on the 8100? (This seems to be separate and apart from the AvicSync feature which we know isn't out yet... if ever...) -Keith

I contacted amazon, Crawford, and pioneer. I may have gotten the issue resolved... I'll let you all know in a few days

Maybe they were hit with some cease and desist orders for infringing on other people's patents... And trying to quietly figure out ways around it... Sometimes I wonder if that's the problem with AvicSync too..

Well I'm absolutely screwed. I sent my unit in to Pioneer for service due to the GPS keyboard issue and they confirmed the serial number sticker was torn off the unit and they are denying service of the unit as a result. I tried to escalate the issue and even got a hold of the service managers phone number but he isn't returning my calls... I contacted Crawford Superstore who supplied the unit via Amazon and they were absolutely rude and arrogant.. They accused me of taking the serial number off and refused to help me or contact Pioneer to straighten things out. They also told me they don't ke

Yeah.. I agree.. I really thought they would be more advanced technology out there. Out almost makes me want to mount an iPad to my dash but then I'd have to rely on a cell signal and a ton of data.. I want weather, gas prices, other GPS, and parking garage apps.. Plus any other useless garbage that might be fun . Maybe I'll hook up app radio again.. I wish I could do Adp radio and switch back and forth with CarPlay..

With AvicSync probably never seeing the light of day, has anyone seen any other after market head units provide what AvicSync was supposed to? My Toyota's EnTune radio does, but the GPS or absolutely horrid, the screen is too small, and no way to use it while driving... I'm thinking about jumping ship from Pioneer if there's a better unit out there. I'm done waiting to use features promised over a year ago. -Keith

I'm sending my unit in for service and was taking pictures before I sent it to capture the condition (perfect) and serial number, but I couldn't find a serial number anywhere on it. What I did notice is a blank white rectangle label which looks like it was peeled off...I'm hoping that isn't where the serial number is supposed to be... because if it is.... I have a feeling I'm screwed... Anyone have an uninstalled 8000 that they could look at to see if that small rectangle under the Pioneer/HDMI logo is supposed to be the serial number? -Keith

I'm back to the problem where I open spotify, select a song, and nothing plays... Sometimes it'll just play the first song stored in my iTunes music library. I have to disconnect the phone from the cable, manually start the song in spotify, then connect the cable to get it to play. Reboot does nothing.

Spotify has been broken for me since 8.3, is it working for others?

Just in case anyone here intends on trying it, the music app crashes if you try to play music in CarPlay. I'm sure it will be fixed in later betas but beware of this before you update if you plan on it.

I emailed Pioneer support about they keyboard problem since 1.08 and AvicSync, here is their useless reply. Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. 1. I deleted spotify and re-added it (rebooting in between) and still have the same issues... Totally unusable

Usually when backing up, it's while the head unit is first booting up. If I go into reverse, the backup cam comes on right away even though the head unit is still booting up... But after a second or two the screen will go blank for 2 seconds and then come back on, does anyone else have this issue? It's quite annoying, a 2 second blank screen when going in reverse is an eternity.

Using the map button on my Prius with OEM camera, works fine... Though when I say using, I mean it works when I tried it.. I don't actually have a use for it though... I only need it when backing up... Which brings up a question I'll post separately
