  1. I was using my Bluetooth for a while, but the OS or the software on pioneer is not very robust. Specially when you have video playing from SD card, and never switched to map window (so you have not accepted the warning), if you get a call via Bluetooth.... good luck it not crashing. Even with the V3 OS. so... after much back and forth, ... I came up with a simple solution. It is very simple and old school. I have a BB bold 9000 with 2GB micro SD. So I put all my music and podcasts in the BB. with a simple stereo cable I have the BB connected to the front AV input of the pioneer. Now I li
  2. Hi, You mentioned that the unit was working for 2 weeks after the mod. So I assume that the mod was correct. Unless some wiring is loose. I read a lot about reboot problems, and I think that there are software bugs that in certain conditions corrupt some files preventing the boot. Good luck Kave
  3. Hello I dont think the bypass has anything to do with that, but similar issue happened to me a month ago. Please see my post for full details and how I fixed it. In brief, .. I reloaded winCE with format and loaded all the software again and it is fine. Cheers Kaveh
  4. I fixed the problem. I couldn't boot in test mode, and pioneer told me to send it to service. And futureshop extended warranty would leave me without a unit for 4-5 weeks. (the only reason I got the PSP was due to the big discount to match crutchfield prices) Took the unit out, checked the wiring, .. and it was all good. <- That's why I did it myself. So I know the wiring is done well and will last. The unit was still responsive to the bootrom menu. (holding the reset, eject, Menu and Map). I ran the memory tests and all passed. The GPS test didn't do any thing. Then I reload
  5. Hello, My F900 was running the V3 OS fine for months. It has the hardware hand break mod. Few days ago, I updated the phone book via Bluetooth, and did not see any errors. (I did get a call during this update) This phonebook update may not be related but since then the unit does not boot. It keeps cycling the boot process with Pioneer splash screen. A few time it did boot (while I was driving) but GPS was not working at all (i.e no signal) and once the illumination lights were flashing, no matter what mode/color I selected. But the phone book data was there, however I don’t recall
  6. very likely it wont work. The USB is for charging only. (i.e the data D+/- are not connected) I bough one last month,.. and you can charge, .. and you can listen to music and see the video, .. but no control of IPOD. It is frustrating, .. since why would the designer cheap out on 2 conductors in the wire !! it is few cents of additional cost, and it is not a high volume cable anyway. Cheers Kaveh
  7. I gave up on the 2.5" WD HDD, and moved on to 3.5" HDDs. Using a power inverter (110V), powered up my 500GB external HDD, and connected it via USB. After initial failure, .. I deleted the partitions on the HDD, made a 2GB primary partition /FAT32/ and AVIC was able access the HDD. Next I tried reformatting it from my win xp to a 500GB FAT 32... when I found out that win XP doesn't let you format a partion larger than 32GB to FAT32. But you can use the command prompt (and not qith the quick format option /q) to do this. Before I do this.. I tested it again with a 32GB FAT32 for
  8. What hard drives have you been using? I have been testing it with the WD 2.5" drives 160GB (costco), and it does not work. (with neither 1.x or 2.0 firmware). The drive is formatted FAT32, but it has the WD software on it. This could make some issues (although that the WD software would not run on Win CE), but if F900 doesn' like any files, it will crash. And that's what I have been experiencing with the external HDD, that it will crash after a few mins, and the USB icon is never enabled on the touch screen. Reading the stuff on the forum, many suspect that this is related to power,
  9. Just tested 8GB Flash with F900BT and it is working. Lexar 8GB SDHC. So it seems that it can still read from SDHC cards.
  10. With Firmware 2.0, I was able to connect to BlackBerry 8830 world Edition (Telus, Canada). With older Firmware, the Bluetooth kept disconnecting every ~15 secs. Now the phone is generally ok. It does lock up once is while, . but usually recovers. Call waiting (switching lines) is very buggy. Also if you make the call from the phone, the Pioneer doesn't handle it very well. (lock ups) And when are you in a call, you can not switch between screens. But overall, it is better than not having a phone functionality at all (older firmware). Cheers Kaveh
  11. Hello, I have been reading and searching and didn't find a clear conclusion about the external disk drive support of AVIC F900 BT. I have tested 2 drives ( some no name 2.5" a, and a WD 2.5" HDD). neither worked. So, .. is the problem just power? cus that can be easily resolved by powering the drive separately. Or even, .. make a custom USB cable, and connect the power signals to a better power source. But if the problem is from the Avic USB controller/software, . then we are out of luck. (assuming drive is formatted FAT32, with reasonable file and folder structures.) Any s
  12. Hello, I dont think the metal plate will act as an electrical ground plane, as it is usually attached on plastic (insulating) surfaces. The plate, however could be acting as an extended Antenna surface. Cheers Kaveh
  13. I have a Blackberry 8830 (World Edition - Telus). didn't have issues at first, .. but now it connects and disconnects after less than a min. I tried deleting it and pairing again, .. and disable encryption, .. but no luck, I believe I have the latest FW on my BB, .. I will check that. And I know I have the latest software/fw for the pioneer. Kaveh
  14. found it in the pioneer update image: ..F-Series Firmware Update\LPUE080\APL2\iGo I will check it on the headunit flash. Kaveh
  15. I have spent sometime reading and searching, .. but can some one tell me where is data.zip ? I booted with the SD card, and can browsed around, .... looking for /project_config/pioneer.ini is this "data.zip" the backup of the entire flash? cheers Kaveh
