  1. Mine just goes to the splash screen, holds for a few seconds then reboots. Back to the splash screen then reboots again. I tried the test mode files, nothing. Tried the 2.0 update, nothing. Tried the test mode files on a SD card and USB flash drive, still same thing. Finally called Pioneer and they told me to send it to them as it's a software issue. It was working fine before, didn't do any hacks, then gps stopped working (couldn't find me nor move when the car was moving), then intermittent reboots, then all of sudden constant reboots. I'm sending my unit in, they said tu
  2. there should be a plastic panel (triangular in shape) that you can remove that's connected to the center console on the passenger side. once you've removed that you will see the ecu (ecm, pcm whatever you call it). the wires will be there you might have to pull the carpet a little to get to the wires. as for the brake wire why don't you just do the bypass you will need to ground the brake wire. food for thought, if you are using the OEM kit for the replacement pocket underneath the factory radio, you will need to play with the mounting brackets as if you don't the radio will start out pretty f
  3. no need to generalize. if you're going to generalize you might as well state that all "big box" retailers that have installation bays don't install correctly (i.e. myer emco, tweeter, etc.) hey even the mom and pop's stores don't always do the installation to the fullest. it's not that most of them don't know how to do it, they're just lazy. i've worked at both bb and cc, some installers hook up the vss wire and illumination wire and some don't. to generalize that all suck is going a tad too far. everyone has horror stories about a company especially ones that are as big as cc and bb. best thi
  4. Speed Sense PINK/BLUE (AC) PIN 7 AT CCM LEFT OF STEERING COLUMN That's the only thing I can find for VSS wire, your reverse lights shouldn't be too hard to find, they're usually in the driver's side kick panel in the wire loom heading towards the rear of your car. If you can easy access the wiring going to your rear lights look for similiar wires in the kick panel.
  5. sorry i didn't pay close enough attention to the post, you have 3 sets of speakers (6 speakers total) and a four channel amp. you have a set of 6x9's and 3.5's on the front channels and a set of 3.5's on the rear channels. i would bridge the 3.5's off of either front or rear channels and then the 6x9's for the other channels, see if that configuration helps out.
  6. Reverse Light lt. green + fuse box under left rear seat Parking Brake lt. blue - switch or BCM, blk plug, pin A4 The BCM is attached to the fuse box under the left rear seat. Speed Sense dk. green/white PCM 4.2L: The PCM is attached to the driver side of the engine. VSS is in the blue plug, pin 32. 5.3L: The PCM is near the lower front driver side of the engine. VSS is in the green plug, pin 50.
  7. have you checked your amp when it cuts out? does it go into protection mode? this is what i'm assuming. maybe try using some bass blockers for the 3 1/2's until you get your other amp. this might help it out. i'm assuming you don't have a high-pass filter going to the fronts since you only have a 2 channel amp and most amps don't have filters for each individual channel.
  8. Reverse Light white/yellow + driver kick or SJB, conn. E, pin 18 FORD, FIVE HUNDRED, 2005, Reverse Light The SJB (Smart Junction Box) is the fuse/relay box under the driver side dash. I can't find a VSS wire for you though.
  9. Reverse Light red + driver kick, 17 pin plug, pin 9 dkp = driver's kick panel
  10. Speed Sense yellow/black PCM, blue plug, pin 25 The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is on the passenger side firewall under the hood. Reverse Light lt. green + inside mirror or fuse box under hood
  11. Parking Brake green/yellow - fuse box, 18 pin plug, pin 5 try that one out
  12. i think all avics have a separate sub control, did you mess with that? is it even on (sub control)? if so did you try turning the sub up?
  13. not sure if the 680 works but i can tell you the 700p works with it.
  14. figured out the problem, it was my phone not the bluetooth adapter. i wasn't receiving any text messages either, so i just did a soft reboot on the phone and everything works great, well except for the echo. thanks.
  15. has anyone had any experience with the phone? i've set up the z1 to recognize the 700p and transferred my phone book over to the z1. the funny thing is that it works fine when i receive a call but when trying to make a call through the z1, on the z1 it seems to be working fine but i can't get the conversation to come through the speakers nor the mic to pic up, i have to literally use the phone as if i didn't have it connected to the z1 (phone to ear). i'm not sure if it's a defective bluetooth adapter or not but i just got the bluetooth adapter from circuit city for $100 and that m
