  1. I saw these knobs on here but did not see install details. Does it just fit on top of the existing knob or do you remove the existing one and install the new one? Thanks.
  2. A very subtle but nice change in the 3.0 update... As before, if your unit boots directly into the map screen you will be given the warning message with the OK button. Except now you can just lightly tap the OK button and it responds on the FIRST TRY! I can't tell you how many mornings I got into my car with 2.0 FW and had to keep mashing the OK button on the screen over and over just to see the map screen. So much more responsive now when booting. I'm 3 days into using 3.0 and already see such a difference. The highway signs are AWESOME and appear exactly as they do on the road.
  3. I actually threw caution to the wind and did not leave my engine running when I performed this. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that what alternators are for? Won't it just recharge? I had no problems at all starting my car after letting the update run for an hour or so.
  4. And oh yeah, going to just hang on to my SD cards as well. Considering past history with my F900BT, I'm assuming I will need them for a reinstall in the future...
  5. Just got my SDs in the mail today and performed the upgrade. Everything went great aside from the error at 98% of the 2nd SD that required a retry. The following are significantly faster now: 1. Touch screen response 2. iPod VR catalog activation 3. Bluetooth phone connect 4. Navigating/playing media off of SD cards Unit seems to take just as long to start up, but it's a lot more responsive while still booting than it used to be. Have not had a chance to make any calls or drive around with it. Very sad that it took 2 years and $68 to get it to this level of performance, b
  6. Lol, too funny... must be crazy-strong if it can support an F500BT Girl should also be hotter.
  7. Take a look around eBay... I seem to remember seeing VGA ----> composite cables there before for very cheap. I don't think the widescreen ratio will work at all though...
  8. My F900BT update "shipped" last night. No tracking number. From what I have read from others, I think Pioneer's definition of "shipped" really means "finally charged your credit card, considering putting the item into a box sometime soon........maybe"
  9. Ordered mine on 7/23/2009 and it has not shipped. I did see another post on here from someone saying they ordered on 8/6/2009 and it shipped the next day so I'm not sure what Pioneer is doing...
  10. Ordered on 7/23/2009 for my F900BT, still awaiting shipment. They must be processing these in the sequence they were ordered in.
  11. Great, thanks for the link! I guess the software must all be the same if people are updating their F-Series with something meant for the X-Series...
  12. Sorry all but I did some searching and can't seem to find the answer to this here. What exactly is the 3.01 update? Pioneer hasn't even shipped the 3.0 update and yet there's already another one publicly available? Again my apologies if this has been answered elsewhere. All I can find is references to 3.01, not an explanation of what it is or what it's good for. Thanks!
  13. The ability to read text messages using Samantha is only supported on a handful of phones, most of which I recall being Motorola. Someone posted a link to a PDF on the forum a while back that lists of each phone and what it can and can't do on the F-Series. Do a little digging, it should still be around here somewhere. As for the price of the 3.0 update, it includes maps. Most map updates I have seen were north of $120 for other units, so it's really not that unreasonable. Still a bummer, but oh well...
  14. Kev, wow great work here! I'd say those 4 screenshots are a pretty comprehensive description of the problem. There has got to be some ultra-obscure cause to all of this. I have managed to get nothing but pixelated artwork from the following devices: 1. 30GB 4th gen iPod Video 2. 120GB iPod Classic 3. 1st gen 16GB iPhone 4. 32GB iPhone 3G S I am using Pioneer's iPod cable. It seemed like a problem related to how the images are stored in the iTunes library, but now I am not so sure. I am reading reports of it occurring with the same files from the same library on different
  15. Yes Kev, that definitely occurred to me as well and it sounds like the most likely explanation at this point. "Blurry" and "clear" are all relative to whoever is viewing it and I think some people just have different opinions of what those terms mean. Album art all looks sharp as ever in promotional materials, but that doesn't surprise me at all
