Haha alright thanks. I've been trying to update this thing for days. The maps are definitely outdated as what is around my area. The street numbers are off, and there are a few highways that have been removed. How often are new map updates released?

My map version is 01.000600 Do I have the latest maps?

Hmmm, odd. I got that sys.txt from one of the links in here. Is there much different in the file? If someone could tell me what's in there I could just add it myself.

I got the ezrider and license file on the unit, but I wasn't able to get the DATA and SYS because it conflicted with my modifications. However, the unit still booted up fine. Will I notice anything different with that version of EZRIDER? Also, why in SYS does it say [device] type="ASUS 63X"

So it would be on a state-by-state basis? Ah, it's not worth it. I'd probably end up lost in some state that I deleted one day and my GPS wouldn't be able to help me. So back on the subject of these maps-- Why can't we just download the map file? Do the newer map data files require all the other things(inside the ir zip) we need to put on the unit as well?

I also heard people deleting maps they won't use(such as Europe, etc..) to make the unit go faster. 1) Does this actually work? 2) If so, where are the actual map files that you can remove?

Ok, just want to get an understanding on this. I downloaded the file named "ir" from rapidshare, along with a license. I placed the license in the license folder next to the other one. Now am I to simply copy this onto the flash memory of the AVIC? If so, will this replace or alter any modifications that may currently be on my unit? And is my ending result the most updated maps? (All I really want is an updated map, since there are problems and alot of outdated things with the current map file I am using on my unit.)

Not sure which mod I got this off of, or if this is a problem with the unit itself... but I was on a road today and the house numbers around me said 250,251,252 and my unit was telling me I was at 5, 6, 7. The town hall was my destination, and I was told I was there but I was about 2 miles down the road from it. The mod I have shows the street number on one side, the street, and then the street number on the other side. Is this a problem with the mod, or perhaps the map itself?

Happened to me for the first time in awhile today.

The question is-- Is it possible to hack this unit so that it CAN pull that data from the CD? I'm sure it's there, but I haven't looked at this part of the code at all.

So all other players have this CDDB built in? That doesn't sound right, since other players don't have any internal storage. Usually the CDs do have information that it passed to the player, but it looks like typical Audio CDs don't pass the info, while MP3 CDs do? I know it's not an issue with these CDs-- my old player used to display the tracks fine.

It's sad that I have to post this in the HACK thread, and that it's not a built-in feature with this unit. For CD's aside from MP3 tracks, and radio stations.. can we get the artist/song info to appear in the detail section? I don't see why this information isn't taken in as it is. I have many Audio CD's, and the details are not shown on screen.

I have keeper's linear compass mod, and I'd like to combine the stop navigation feature when you press the compass. However, the code I've seen around is used with the basic compass. Does anyone have this mod working with a different compass? Could you help me get the code in place for it? Thanks much.

Prior to installing my autostart, I only saw this problem happen once, but it stopped responding after I had been driving for awhile. Since installing the starter, I've seen it happen when I first start driving.

No, sorry if I misled you. It's only happened to me a few times-- not always. I would agree with the 6 out of 10 times. It hasn't happened to me in a few days as of this moment.

Ah yes. I do know about that-- the guy who installed my remote starter went over that with me, and I tested it out. My car shut off when I pressed the brake before putting my key in the ignition. I also see the parking lights go off when I press the brake after properly inserting my key into the ignition-- showing that the car has switched over to running off the key. According to blackh, the touchscreen was unresponsive to him before he pressed the brake, but it worked afterwards. Very much appreciate the information. However, that all sounds a bit scary to me. I had someone else do the work for me to put this remote starter in. However, they might actually have to do some additional work with it in the future, so if there is something specific I need to have them change, let me know. What exactly do you think is happening? Is it that the Navi is wired into the brake somehow, instead of being used on a separate wire?

Aha. I know that the brake pedal is wired in a way so that if the key is not in the ignition and you press the brake, the car will shut off. So that probably somehow ties into the nav unit? We'll need to test this out to narrow it down.

It's just been very frequently for me lately. I have heavily modded my unit, so I hope it's not something that I've done. Though, a touch screen being unresponsive is a bit odd. Like I said, the map and menu buttons still work... so it makes me think it has more to do with the touch screen. But again, I would assume the touch-screen is just like a typical hardware device that is connected and loaded by Windows.
