1. I have an update for: Verizon Treo 650 (ONLY with updated OS v1.05a) - Transfer Contacts: Full Transfer - Calling: Fully Functional NOTES: be careful when updating the 650 to the new OS; I kept running into the "continuous reset" problem; In the end, here's what I had to do to get it update correctly: 1) Perform a "hard" reset (backup all your data first!!!) 2) Re-sync with PC, but using a new temp user name "Dummy"; 3) Do the upgrade; 4) Perform another "hard" reset; 5) Re-sync again, this time selecting previous user name (so as to get back all of your data); P.S.
 2.
looking up your wiring it depends on who installed your radio. i have installed many radio in that vehicle and never had a problem. plus you dont want to remove that amp with the factory speakers still in place. the factory infinity speakers are at a 2 ohm load to low for the avic. the recomended ohm load on the avic is 4 -8 ohms. you would have to put in a 4 channel amp or remove the amp and replace all the speakers. plus removing the output of your speaker will be lower at any volume. if you can remove the radio. i can go over the install to insure that it is installed
 3.
You say that you used the metal tubing that runs through the dash to ground the unit. Did you just wrap the ground around the tube, or did you puncture the tube and use a screw to fasten the ground? Is there a ground wire from your stock radio that you could use? As for the POP...there's a circuit that you can get to stop that. I believe there are other posts about it.
There are two unused screws embedded in the steel tube; I found matching nuts and grounded the head unit's ground wire to one, and all the other grounds (approx. 7 of them!!! from all
 4.

That's definately something different. When the z1 was installed, was the factory amp in the car kept or was it bypassed? That might have something to do with that. I've also seen a corroded power antenna cause that kind of noise too.
Oh.. good call. The speaker connections go through the factory amp still.. you think using my own amp would get rid of it? Time for some more wiring I guess.. (assuming I can find where the factory amp even is!) Thanks for the help
I also have a Z1 with the factory amp, and am getting
 5.
thanks guys. So Im going to try to ground the RCAs first and see if the problem goes away and see what happens with the ground loop isolator. If not I guess I'll have to take it to the shop. Any1 have any tips on how to ground the RCA's? How d I make the wires stick around the rca terminal? And is it safe to ground all the 5 RCA's to the same point and have the grounds touching? Thanks.
I also have some noise problems with my Z1, and am wondering if you solved yours and how. Thanks.
 6.
i just installed the avic z1 in my car but im getting alot but i mean alot of engine noice coming out of the subs. it wasnt doing this before and i already check all my wiring. specially my grounds and i didnt find anything wrong. is it possible that the unit is bad? what can this probrem be??????
I just installed the Z1 and I'm also getting noise (constant low-volume hiss, even when nothing is playing; RPM whine; and shut-off boom noise); am wondering if you were successful and solving your noise problem and how you did it. P.S. I was also very carefu
 7. Hi. Hope you had a nice weekend. I spent the entire weekend installing the Z1. I'm completely bushed! Mostly a success, but some issues arose. Perhaps you can help? Questions: 1) Reverse Signal: There's only one 9-pin connector on the back of the fuse box (under dash driver's side), but pin '5' is empty (both male & female sides). Could it be one of the other pins (I attached a photo of the 9-pin connector - counting from lower right going left, pin 4,5,6,7,8, etc.) 2) Can you tell me where I can easily (i.e., under dash, near fuse box??) tap into BATTERY? 3) I g
 8. Thanks for getting back so quickly. I looked back to the post you made on the reverse; which fuse box are you referring to? The one under the driver's-side dash? Thanks.
 9. Yes, thanks - I found the Data Link Connector under the dash. Question: do you think it's OK to simply plug a male connector into the pin 6 to get access to it (as opposed to splicing the wire)?? ALSO: can you tell me the easiest spot (under the dash??) to tap into the reverse signal (I'm not looking forward to snaking a cable to rear taillight!!)?
 10. Thanks for the info. I'll report back with my progress. P.S. What does "BCM" stand for? Where is it?
 11. I went to the site but could not for the life of me find any links for my VSS location. After entering my vehicle year/make/model, I was directed to a page that contained products for my car (rear camera system, etc.). But nothing on VSS. Can you be more specific on where to get this info on the site? Thanks.
