OK i sit typing corrected. This topic I did not read. But it's becasue the title does not really suggest that it is about the 3.0 update. However it is interesting reading and I might consider doing this update for these new features. I think I might just wait a little longer though for others to finish finding out what's wrong with it first.

You could try reading a zillion threads about FW 3.0 and features/benefits it offers... Actually I did read thru a ton of these pages all the way back to when people were posting about 2.0 before it was released. Noone says in any of the 3.0 posts what the actual benefits are to installing it. There are alot of opinions posted that it makes their unit better but how it makes it better is not posted. ALso I have noticed in my reading that there seems to be a multitude of problems that people have run into after installing 3.0 such as there steering wheel controls and blue tooth stopped work

I haven't seen any explanation or details on the boards here. Can anyone tell me before I put the effort into it, what is the difference between 2.06 or whatever that last update they sent everybody and the v3.0 or 3.1? What am I gaining by installing 3.0? Will I lose the mods i've done to my unit as it sits with the current latest updated version? Will I have to start all over again hacking the unit once I install 3.0? Thanx for any assistance and answers anyone can provide.

Did you miss a step in the instructions? The knob goes on the head unit that's in the dash not the one sitting behind the dash. LOL sorry couldn't help myself is should be punished.

OMG I just stumbled on this thread by accident and this seriously is soooo helplful. After reading the first page with Stephanies' tutorial, I felt like I was sitting in a classroom in grade school. You remember that feeling when you finally grasped a concept the teacher had been droning on about and it just kept going over your head until you had that light come on moment. Stephanie thanx for making the effort to make us noobs a whole lot smarter.

Does anybody have any tips or directions for or guidance or maybe a tutorial on messing around with the color.ini and color3d.ini files. I'd like to create my own color scheme other than the ones I have already downloaded from the thread. Just not sure what I am looking at when reading these files. Specifically how to change each color such as the general terrain to a color other than the gray that all of the day maps seem so fond of. Thanx everyone for all the contributions.

N-S-E-W Have your kids show you the wondorous world of iPod. I'm not much younger than you and believe me once you go Podding you'll never go back. I actually do not even have an antenna on my car anymore since all I use is the Pod. Best thing I ever did was box up all those CD's and plug in the Pod. If you can operate the DVR you can master the iPod in less than an hour. You won't be sorry.

03Aviator ya know I was about to say the same thing until I studied it for a minute and realized that in this pic everything is going all at the same time. he has the route function going as he is showing a redlight cam and the whole nine yards. I'll bet it looks alt cleaner without some of this stuff active.

ok tried your suggestion and now I have a new problem. I believe that the linear compass.bmp that is located in the ui_pioneer/800_400 file is actually backwards. When I am headed north or south it reads correctly but if i am headed east it says west and vice versa. Also when headed North or South the East and West are reversed. So when heading south instead of east being on the left it is on the right. What the heck planet were they on when they were drawing that. I am going to try a new .bmp for the linear compass and see if it corrects the problem. UPDATE: Ok the Linear compass.bmp t

nope not switching modes. The linear compass is on the left of the screen just above the route info box that I have not yet removed. The linear compass display changes direction when I turn but after driving for a short distance it will snap back to the N. I thought maybe i missed a step or something and there might be a line that was supposed to be elimated when I add this code. If that was the case it would explain this maybe or atleast I am hoping. THis is what it looks like in the file navigatemap_800_480.ui right now; ;compass Was I supposed to do something different?

OK I put it where in the file and it shows very nicely on the screen, I am so proud of myself. Now however I have noticed that it seems to keep reverting back to always saying north. I will turn and it will start to move like it is going to show a different direction but then it will snap back and show north as my heading no matter which direction I am headed. I obviously must have missed a step. Any ideas as to what I may have missed?
