  1. Okay, so I've had great luck with my Z1 since installing late last year but this past Thursday, I started having a real problem that I can't for the life of me figure out. I was adjusting the map zoom and it seemed to lose track of where I was pressing.... as though it suddenly lost alignment. I went thru reboot and no luck. To the meat of this post...... I tried the screen calibration with the four red arrows. Before I have a chance to click an arrow, the bottom left arrow is automagically pressed and beeps as such. I'm unable to click any of the other arrows to complete the c
  2. Is there anywhere I can view my actual GPS coordinates? Also, what about elevation? I was driving last weekend thru the mountains and would have loved to know what my altitude was. Thanks!
  3. Okay, got the Sirius box connected on Friday and all wired up and ready to go, just in time for a long drive to see my folks for belated turkey dinner. After hearing all the raves about Sirius from my friends and from some in this forum, I have to say, I was a little disappointed in the fidelity of the sound. My hope is that by posting this someone out there will tell me I've configured something wrong or perhaps there's an upgrade on the way but for the time being, it sounds like I ripped a CD at like 48/kbs. I'm getting digital aliasing noise all over the place. There appears to be
  4. Does anyone know the format (size? color? file ext?) for the images that represent locations and contacts on the Z1? Was thinking it would be fun to upload fav pics of friends so they appear when I'm near their place or when they call. I know there's a grey'd out "import" option. I assume the process is similar to uploading a background image (files + 100meg dummy) but just thought I'd ping for details. Also, what about sounds? The squeaking bed works great for my girlfriends place but I can think of other great applications for this. Thanks all!
  5. I've used similar adaptors with my last Pioneer HU. My assumption is that the Z1 will recognize this interface as an AUX input and not an iPod. That means that you'll be navigating your iPod from the iPod itself (which isn't such a bad thing considering the less than perfect embedded interface). An improved iPod interface on the Z1 is the only real improvement I could wish for personally. I'm not aware of any plans to improve upon it though.
  6. In my experience, it ususally finishes the rip of the whole CD by the time you've finished listening to the second or third song. I'm personally sort of intrigued by this in that it's reading ahead of where you're listening to but given it's a pretty fast drive with some decent memory, I guess it's not so incredible.
  7. To those who have seen both XM and Sirius in operation on a Z1, are there interface differences between the two that would sell you one way or another if the programming were equal? I know they both have the programming selling points and I have the option of XM Traffic service but I'm avoiding including that in my buying decision. Pioneer clearly supports XM in a more preffered fashion in that they make their own XM modules and with Sirius, I end up with more than likey one of the Directed units. Thanks in advance!!
  8. Unlike the shuffle toggle that you can turn on and off.... The "Repeat" button toggles between "Repeat One" and "Repeat All". Can turn it "Off"! The topic has been raised before but no solution provided..... Any suggestions? Thanks!
  9. Friends don't let friends help wire their Z1's. Before work this morning I check the IP-Bus config and sure enough, my buddy plugged it into the wrong socket. Works like a champ! This site (and all of your excellent help) has spared me hours and hours of a$$ scratching on hunting down typcially simple problems. Experience is everything! Thanks again all!
  10. Okay, so with the help of you kind souls, I was able to resolve a pretty straight foward shorted speaker connection that was overloading the internal Z1 amp and shutting it down. That's resolved... next issue.... K... have plugged the ipod in and get the nice Pioneer splash screen. Select it as source and start playing some tracks. It appears to be playing the track but no sound. Fast forward, track skip, playlists... the whole enchilada. Just NO SOUND. All other sources working fine including the navi voice chiming in. Any suggestions what might be going on here? BT
  11. Never would have thought it but I apparently used TOO much dynamat. The brand I'm using has a foil outer coating (which I'm sure the dynamat has too). Well, sure enough on my driver side, front door, I had a peice of mat folded behind the speaker that was intermittenly shorting the speaker post to the door I guess. This of course sent the Z1 amp into over load and shut the whole shooting match down. Took some serious time to figure this one out but in the end it was as simple as trimming the mat back. All is well this hallows eve. Hope you all are enjoying your Avics and that
  12. Good ideas... now get this... Came out this morning to go to work... totally expecting no workie on the Z1. To my surprise, it worked! For five minutes.... at least I could watch the Navi. So again, I'm using the Ducatiboy bypass and there was some mention in another post about the Z1 "Figuring out" your trying to get around lock-outs. It was also mention when this happens that the Z1 would start to kill features, would that include all volume? BTW... I used the Cell Mute wire (as suggested in the bypass) for my pin 2 connection so I don't think that's it. could be shorted
  13. Note: This was "pilot error" on my part in the speaker install. Short circuit overloaded the amp.... Okay, it's 2am. Finished a multiday install of my new Z1. New speakers, wiring, everything. My buddy and I fired it up and sounded awesome! Breifly....then.... nada. Details: Sept 06 manufacture date, used Ducatiboy's "parking break and pin 2" bypass. First source we tried was a DVD and worked great. Even managed to find an elusive VSS in an '06 Frontier which I post elsewhere. Works like a charm. Okay, so I'm stumped. All the sources appear to work great.
