  1. Greetings, I'm poised to install an AVIC-Z2 in a 2002 911 (like mivey's). I have a few questions: 1) Does anyone have a template for this installation? If not, is it a straight forward fabrication? (I found the paint) 2) I followed the link for the plug info. Can anyone confirm the plugs? I identified Metra Elec. Corp. #70-1784 & #70-1787 plugs. I have a Bose, without the MOST, and from what I understand & read, it should be 'plug & play' for the non-MOST Bose systems. 3) IS the an after market 'kit' to mount the Z2 into the dash or does the Pioneer 'cage' work? Thanks Joe
  2. I spoke with Pioneer yesterday about upgrading 'firmware' with the 80MT disc and the impact it would have on my N2. He said that the firmware would allow the N2 to do all it could do, but wouldn't make it an N3, 4, or 5. Additionally, he remarked that to upgrade the N2 to a N3 - 5 would require various chips to be replaced that held new icons/graphics, etc for the user interfaces with improved functionality with various add on devices. About a year ago I had an extensive dialog with one of the 'upgrade' shops. He remarked that he had to get additional chips manufactured, before he could upgrad
  3. Circuit writer pen...Fry's Electronics (~$13) in the store or on line
  4. Just got off the phone with Pioneer...there are 3 models XDV-P90, XDV-P9 (both operated with remotes only), and the XDV-P6 which is operable via the touchscreen. ebay appears to have reasonable prices, but haven't looked that hard. As for the 80MT disc, search this forum & you'll find details on The Pitates Bay site to download the torrent. I have the N2....
  5. The download from the FTP site did not work for me I didn't fuss with it, but I went to I http://www.torrentpond.com/ and then searched The Pirate Bay with 'CNDV 80MT' entered into the search window. I downloaded ‘Pioneer Navigation West CNDV 80MT’ which rendered CNDV_80MT_West viperbo21r.rar extracted the compressed file and used 'gBurner' with the slowest burn rate & verified. It worked on my N2 first time. I used generic DL+DVD media, nothing special. I have not tried the East in my N2 (not sure I will), although it seemed to burn OK.
  6. I had success with the download site spediegunz mentioned. Grabed ‘Pioneer Navigation West CNDV 80MT’ that gave me CNDV_80MT_West viperbo21r.rar Extracted it and burned the file with 'gBurner'. Used the slowest speed & verified, used generic DL+DVD and it worked fine (an earlier attempt didn't). This was in a AVIC-N2.
  7. East Disc: ftp://guest_uploads:guest1234@vwinvoice ... T_East.zip This file is not there anymore West Disc: ftp://guest_uploads:guest1234@vwinvoice ... T_West.iso The West disc is on the directory, it downloaded smoothly and I burned it to a DL DVD media using gBurner. I have not tried it, yet.
  8. I picked mine up at Fry's Electronics, about $12.99....they may have it available on line http://shop2.frys.com/product/2931025;j ... IN_RSLT_PG
