  1. Just did exactly what the first post said and works perfectly on my F700 Thanks!!
  2. whoops, guess I didn't read that part. That's really weird it doesn't work, have you tried it on a TV just to make sure the video out is working? I have my little HP laptop hooked up to my HDTV, so I guess I could just hook that into my AVIC as well. Hmm got me thinking now
  3. Did you go into your system settings on your computer and turn on the external monitor? Or a lot of laptops you have to hold the function key (fn) and one of the f keys to turn on the second monitor.
  4. Well took the faulty unit back to Bestbuy and luckily they let me just swap my HU for a new HU so I didn't have to rip all the wires out and such. Must have been the old unit cause this one started up prefect today and it was only 20 degrees out. Problem solved!
  5. Let me know how the apple cable works out for you. I'm gettting really sick of ripping my dash apart I just got a Ipod cable from Bestbuy, made by Rocketfish, it works really good so far and only 35 bucks. Looks identical to the Apple one and a lot better than the Pionner
  6. I had one of the first flipshots and mine too kept turning off, I just got a replacement today, and now it works perfect, just gotta get it to transfer the contacts, not sure if it was the first few flipshots just didn't have what the new ones do, I do see some differences between the 2 phones. edit:I knew I should have read all the way down...sorry for pointing out what you already found out. ok last edit: I cannot get mine to send the contacts, I did the pair from phone and it does the disconnect but the second connection fails...I guess I will keep trying, now I have the new blueto
  7. Well I got home today and pulled out the wiring and it all looks fine, I replaced a few of the connectors to see if that will fix it, but leaving either the power wire off or the red wire off, I couldn't get it to replicate what it has done the past two mornings, my dad brought up a good point, if there is a bad solder joint on the inside it will be affected quicker by the temp, and maybe that is separating and reconnecting, so if it does it again tomorrow morning, I'm going to take it back and swap it out.
  8. In all my other installs, including this one I have used butt-splices and never had a problem until now, so soldering it will be now Thanks for the replies and all the help, its a long 20 min ride to work with no sounds but the road haha
  9. Well this leads me to think my wiring is bad or the unit, going to check the wires out tonight! Thanks for all the quick replies, I have a feeling I will be spending a lot of time here haha
  10. Well I just spoke to Pioneer and the guy said that weather has not been an issue for the AVIC line and he also suggested the shrinking and expansion of the wires, so I think I'm just going to solder and heat shrink the harness so there is no possible way for that to be an issue and if it still does it take it back for another. The only thing I can think of is that the yellow power wire would be the problem, since the red wire must be working ok for the unit to know the truck is on, or the ground is not very good. I will check these two wires first
  11. I never thought about it that way, so my guess is that it must be either the yellow, red, or black wires, I ordered a backup camera, so I will re-check all the wiring again when I have it all apart putting that in. I know that it is getting power somewhere cause it does turn on, but if it isn't a good connection like you said it may not be enough for the unit to turn on all the way.
  12. I'm wondering if the amount of air space and metal around the radio isn't making it seem colder then it is? I have an 08 F-150 and there is ALOT of empty space where the radio is, anyone else with a F-150 or similar vehicle notice this problem? I know the wiring is fine, because after a 5-10 min drive, shut off and turn on the truck the radio boots up right away, but it seems like just sitting all night in the cold does it. Last night it was 30's and with my truck sitting outside for a few hours it worked fine...not sure, I sent an e-mail to Pioneer about this as well to see if I should wor
  13. Hello, this is my first post, I just got the AVIC-700BT for x-mas and updated it, its awesome, however the past 2 mornings have been around 40 degrees air temp, and the radio won't turn on, the lights around the knobs turn on, and then right back off and nothing from the screen. But once I get to where I'm going and its warm in the truck if I turn off my truck and back on the radio works like a charm. I have tried resetting it while driving but it just turns the knob lights on then back off. Is this unit really this sensitive? Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks for the help!
