  1. Thanks for the reply. Trying to save space and avoid installing the XP disc I have in the closet... I'll try that app.
  2. I hate to ask, because I realize most of the q's and a's have been addressed, but I cannot completely sort this out. I changed my sounds to silence.wav, no prob. I copied the whole backup to my 8g SD, downloaded the phone directory and have been working on editing with mySQL on OS X so my 3g will work with voice commands. no prob. What I cannot seem to get is the proper app/function to work like WinRAR or notepad (ie-simply change value for speed, or just access data.zip at all without extracting). For example, I want to add the mute/unmute button per another thread. If I can acc
  3. Believe me, I just returned from BestBuy with my SD card and reader, and backed up the whole "my flash" folder on the AVIC. It has begun! I really hope he just grounded the parking wire and forgot the other pin change. That would explain the warning and the lack of bypass, although it may mean he moved the wrong wire (and killed my AM/FM)???? crap. Time to pull it out of the dash. I had hoped to avoid this. I've been reading around, trying to answer my own questions with the wealth of knowledge on the site (and the generous sharing of the "elders") but I've still been hung up on on
  4. I had my f90BT installed yesterday by a circuit city installer who does "cash only, bypass ready" in the bay. He seems knowledgeable and it was cheaper, so I threw the dice. All seemed well, but in fact the FM/AM/MSN functions will not work, and the bypass does not seem to be complete either. I do, in fact, get the parking brake ground warning upon startup. I just don't get the bypass. Would this mean perhaps he did ground the wire, but forgot about the harness (making it a candidate for the software bypass) and I wonder if it's about time to slide the unit out of the dash to see if he
  5. this is NOT related to that awesome new stereo in the mail for me... But I cannot resist. No, you do not have to install anything except the XP disc in the Mac for it to work. Nothing. The software is built into the OS (which is QUITE stable, I might add). I add the XP install disc to the iMac w/Leopard and it's just that simple. The other apps have advantages that some people prefer. IF you want to get technical though, it is completely compatible with Leopard. Ask MS if they offer the same thing. Furthermore, Microsoft is one of the reasons why products are released too soon an
  6. I just placed my order on the phone with their representative, which made my total + 2nd day shipping at only $640.79! It will be here by Thursday or Friday at the latest. Amazon would have been $679 with "expedited shipping". (about 3 days). Either way, good bang for the buck and thanks for the tip! PS - The representative does log into Amazon to confirm prices/unit etc b/c on their website the unit is listed at $1,199. The current base price is $614. Amazon/6ave... Kudos!
  7. Does it come with the bluetooth mic in the box? I found it online at 86th something electronics, but soon read up on them... Stay away! They are an authorized Pioneer dealer for ALL of their items. Been in business 25 years w/ multiple stores. Sounds good!
  8. I've most recently stopped at Audio Express and Custom Sounds. post edited: Paid $640 for 2 day AIR shipping on a brand new F90BT unit from 6ave, will install for $159 at Circuit city or for $239 at local audio shop. Either way a steal. Thanks for the help!
  9. Oh, and for the other new guy: I was searching for the perfect iPhone interface unit, but that topic is currently being addressed at the convention. Instead of waiting (and dropping 2x the $), I'm going to use the phone via bluetooth to, well, talk, and I'm going to use either the old school iPod or a 4/8/16 gig USB stick connected to the back for tunes. That should work for now. Additionally, if someone wanted to get the lighter to AC adaptor and hide a 250 Gig HD in the glove box that someone would have one heck of an mp3 library rigged into the back of the unit. That just sounds lik
  10. I found the 700BT for $650 in the store, the 900BT for 899 in-store, and I'm still on the fence. The Z3 is available online for cheap, and other places list the 700-900 units for a couple-few hundred under the stores, but the stores charge double and more to install if I carry the box in. I'd do it all myself, but I work and study too much, and I like the warranty with the install. It seems like the units for <1000 are not worth bargain shopping, as the extra install fees really make it equal (or within 100-150 total), but the higher-end models are available for significantly l
  11. Oh, and I forgot to mention earlier... NICE RIDES!
  12. Here are my children... The local stores do not have the proper dash mount kit, and I'm still bouncing back and forth between online steals and in-store simplicity (not to mention the differences between the Kenwood 8120, the 900BT, and the Z3... Hello all. I'm another Noob.
  13. I've been told that in order to charge the 3g iPhone you must purchase the Composite AV cable from Apple. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB129LL/B?fnode=MTY1NDA0OQ&mco=MjE0NTAzOA It's $49.99, unless somebody else has an adaptor solution.
