  1. Looking for input on when you guys think new models will be coming out, i just got a new truck and need to add a radio but could wait a couple months if new models will be out. Im really interested in a floating head unit but the current models are pretty expensive and seem to have some bugs to work through.
  2. So i have IOS10 Beta on my phone, and when i go to carplay settings it asks me if i want to enable Wifi (if it's turned off) and has some text that reads "if your car supports wireless carplay, press and hold the voice control button on your steering wheel to start CarPlay setup" Just thought people would be pumped! Hopefully Alpine and Pioneer make wireless enabled devices soon. Though ill say i think i prefer wired setup... but still a nice option to have.
  3. Right when carplay came out, it was advertised (and worked this way) that when you plug the phone in, the current music source (radio for example) would continue playing. However, now when i plug in, Carplay automatically starts my ipod library, alphabetically. Getting SIIICK of hearing "A**hole" by Tech N9ne every time i plug in! Anyone else having this happen? I got a NEX4000 with an Iphone 6
  4. My nex 4000 (with iphone 6) does the same thing, though not that often. I think it's a head unit issue becuase like you said, unplugging and replugging (even rebooting the phone) doesnt fix it. In general the whole Carplay program is buggy and kinda annoying. Im a HUGE apple fan, if apple makes it i own it, but Carplay seems to be neglected by apple and perhaps doesnt get the funding it needs to make the program work the way all apple products do- flawlessly. I think this is the reason car manufacturers are hesitant putting this in place too....
  5. So if IOS9 is talking about wireless Carplay, will we be able to get that with our NEX units? I thinking maybe we will need some new piece of hardware in our units?? Whatchall think...
  6. So i have a theory (or maybe its more of a fear) that one of these updates is gonna brick the phone (make it just say "Carplay" and not be able to use the phone at all) when plugged in, and you will only be able to do what's available on the nav screen. Can someone confirm for us that 8.3 does not do this?
  7. Im in Minnesota and i press my whole hand on as much of the screen as possible to warm it up. If you do that for like 30 seconds the screen will operate fine. Really stupid that Pioneer didnt find this before they made these. I have a nex4000 and am wondering why i keep buying Pioneer. The other frustration is that even the quickest tap of the "home" button on the screen will activate siri nearly every time. The list of frustrations goes on, but ill digress here....
  8. Anyone else have this issue? Right after the update it worked fine, then the next time i plug my phone in, the phone says "carplay" like it should, but carplay never comes up on the nex. 10 seconds after plugging in, the nex says something like "trying to start carplay" and then it just never happens. am i the only one? This never happened until i just updated to 1.08
  9. sshams95 is correct, the nex4000 doesnt allow this. I did read the release notes, and got all excited that i could maybe do this, but it doesnt work. where other units have the MAP button, 4000's have a MUTE button, which doesnt bring up a camera no matter how you press/hold it. Not sure why Pioneer would hold out on these units only.... theyre just being dicks i guess. ha.
  10. So like 5 years ago i had some pioneer nav unit (it was a piece of shit) but there were all these people hacking and modding the software to do all sorts of awesome things. like adding buttons that weren't normally there, making physical buttons do extra stuff, just completely modding the UI. Are there people doing that at all on the NEX units? I want to be able to push a button and have my backup cam come on. My NEX4000 will not allow this.
  11. just got Carplay working but not seeing any 3rd party apps... am i missing something? Mainly i need Beats Music, i have that instead of spotify....
  12. Anyone else think that maybe, just maybe, the delay is because they are working to improve the functionality of Carplay? perhaps add more features, make it compatible with more apps or make it connect wirelessly? Thus causing Pioneer to not be able to make any statements about it? But in all reality, Pioneer should be saying SOMETHING by now, regardless of the cause. They know we all want to know what the deal is, but are being negligent by staying silent. I wouldnt be half as mad if we just got some kind of statement, anything at all from Pioneer about Carplay.
  13. My phone is not charging, it is just connected by BT only. Seems like a bad quality wireless connection.
  14. We will for sure hear about it tomorrow, i bet the software will come available when the phones do (next week or two), but when pioneer will launch the update for nex units is the big question.
  15. Yall should try to re-create this on your nex 4000's... it took me a while to realize it was even happening. you need to turn the volume way up (like 3/4) to hear it, and there cannot be any music playing. If music is playing or the volume is low then you cannot hear any whine.....
