I had a similar problem. I bought mine on line as well. It was new and from a 'Pioneer dealer'. Everything worked after I installed it but it would not play discs, not DVD,CD, or nav. Pioneer said it was broken. This too was a 'brand new' unit. I sent it back to the guy i purchased it from who was going to replace it with a new unit. However, I had pulled the sticker off the bottom to bypass it and so he would not warranty it. Its costing my $200 to fix. Sucks, thats what I get for pulling the sticker off. Shawn
  2. I found the wire in the radio harness, perfect. So easy too. Thanks again. Shawn
  3. Sh$t, now I wish I hadnt ran that wire out to the ECM! Thanks again guys. I'll check behind the radio. Shawn
  4. Nuns?? Thats the least of my worries !! lol - So it reads kind of like a tach wire only that I've got to be moving - got it. Thanks again - watch out NUNS!! Shawn
  5. Thanks jimmy, I'll check it out this weekend. Can you tell me how it should read on a multimeter? What sort of voltage will it read when parked and how can I verify that its the correct wire? Thanks again, Shawn
  6. 13 years in custom car audio and electronics. MECP cerified back in 1996. Last employer was 3 yrs at Car Toys (West Coast). The only installs I do anymore are my own. I went back to school and got my Journeyman Limited Energy Electricians license and I now work in the Professional Audio/Video industry on the commercial side. Shawn
  7. I purchased my N3 off Ebay for under $1000.00 shipped/insured. Brand new, not refurbed. It came in less than a week as promised, brand new, never out of box. There are deals to be had but there are also ppl out there trying to scam our money out of us. Bottom line, buyer beware!! Shawn
  8. I've got an '01 Suburban and am looking for the Speed Sense (VSS) wire. I know its green/white at the ECM, pin 50 on red connector however, my ECM does not have a RED connector. Any thoughts??? Shawn
  9. Oops, I posted this Q in the wrong topic - sorry for the double post. I am trying to locate the Speed Sense wire on my '01 Chevy Suburban LT 4x4. The Directed Electronics website says that its a green/white wire at pin 50 of the RED connector at the module. However, all of the connectors are BLACK on mine. I did find a green/white at pin 50 on one of the connectors but there are a lot of other green/white wires on this bad boy. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  10. OK, I've replied to quite a few questions like this. I have the same problem on my BRAND NEW N3. It wont read any disc. After calling Pioneer directly I was told that the Laser Pickup was out of alignment. I was told to return my unit for a new one. If that is not possible, you can take it to a repair center and have the laser re-aligned for a reasonable fee. Shawn
  11. It sounds like the same problem I'm having on my N3. Pioneer told me that the Laser Pickup is misaligned if the unit wont read any discs. Shawn
  12. I have a similar problem with my N3 - however mine wont play any disc at all including the Nav disc. In my situation, Pioneer told me that the Laser Pickup in my unit was most likely misaligned. However, since yours will play DVD's and CD's, I would say that the problem is most likely with your Map Disc's. Shawn
  13. NEW UPDATE- I contacted Pioneer directly and was told the following - They told me that the Laser Pickup was most likely misaligned. They reccomended that I return it for a replacement unit. Hope this helps someone else out there. Shawn
  14. UPDATE - I just tried to play a regular DVD movie. After a minute or so of the unit displaying "reading format", no video displayed and I got another message that said "read error". Does ANYONE know or have any experience with this problem?? PLEASE HELP!!! SHAWN
