  1. Out of fear of bricking my unit, OR just damaging it and having to return it OR just hours of adjusting files back and forth till I fix what I broke... I simply read this whole thread, from front to back (skipping some off topic conversation that leaked in) and upon my FIRST TRY, EVERYTHING WORKED. Maps, buildings, POI, its all there, seems faster than before, and Q3 2015 landed without a hitch. AvicSync still works (though it still has 2013 maps loaded on my phone, and wont update further without purchase). Traffic also works via radio (clearchannel) and avicsync. Why am I saying this
  2. I did everything listed above, reloading the OS, attempting the bluetooth firmware update (sometimes it would error out sometimes it acted like it was working) and did a "power pull" by removing the positive terminal on the car for an entire night once. Nothing worked. I lived with it for several months, and finally sent it to Pioneer. They replaced the bluetooth radio as they claimed it had "failed". $250 round trip and I have my 8000 back. Interesting enough, one of the things they listed on the repair bill was "updated software to 1.11" which I had already done... multiple times. When I boo
  3. This was taken from Apples page about 9.3 Find new music. And new places to go.With iOS 9.3, CarPlay adds even more useful features. New and For You from Apple Music — with songs, artists, and albums handpicked by experts, plus selections based on your preferences— are right at hand on your screen. And the Nearby feature in Maps lets you find gas, parking, restaurants, coffee, and more with a tap. So you’ll know the best places to stop, whether you’re on your daily commute or an epic road trip.
  4. Reloaded main 1.10 firmware, wiping everything beforehand (reset all settings to default). Bluetooth still did not register (Greyed out). If I wait,it randomly goes back to Blue and allowed me to select firmware update for Bluetooth... but once I started that proceedure it failed with ERROR across the screen and greyed out again. I think its toast... really frustrated since I am out of warranty with a top of the line Pioneer that has failed me... at least CarPlay/USB still works. Crossing fingers that new firmware will somehow fix it (the rumored one to come out before Thanksgiving) but I kin
  5. As of today, my 8000's bluetooth also failed. It is greyed out after restarting the device several times, it wont see my Android or my iPhone, and is no longer broadcasting its ID. I too attempted to reset the bluetooth, it failed. I then tried to reset the whole unit and it failed. Pulling the battery now as you instructed, will let you know if that makes any difference. Just plugged it in after about 1.5 hours unplugged. It did not fix the bluetooth problem, and my radio has been completely wiped and reset. Going to try re loading all the firmware tomorrow.
  6. My iOS 9 and 9.1 Beta experiences have been generally better than iOS 8.x.x with CarPlay. I will say that on my routine 3-4 hour trips out of town that I have experienced zero issues as long as I stay in the Native CarPlay apps or the 3rd party for CP. As soon as I mix in Waze *unsupported* or my Escort Live *unsupported* I notice that Maps has a harder time keeping up with location smoothly. This is not the case when CP is disengaged and my 6+ screen is showing Maps. Of course you can fix any streaming Music or Podcast issue by simply syncing your playlists locally before your trip (as I do w
  7. 6+ with 8.4 was running CarPlay just fine, so is my 6+ with iOS 9 beta
  8. Yep, was talking about this with my buddy who just bought a Mercedes. He already has Here maps in his 2016 model. Here is to hoping that we can continue to get updates via a pre existing contract, otherwise... CarPlay/AndroidAuto just became all the more important.
  9. If you want an app approved by Apple on Carplay all you have to do is follow the rules that Spotify, TuneIn, and Rdio have followed. All are Apple Music competitors, Spotify being a MUCH bigger "threat" than Slacker is, yet Apple approved them. I would suspect that Slacker is focusing on Android Auto's deployment instead of Carplay since it is a space that Apple is not in. Leaving only Spotify and Google Play before Apple shows up this fall on Android.
  10. I use mine every day, and I immediately load CarPlay as my main interface for using my NEX8000. Any "minor bumps" are few and far between, even running Beta iOS 9... Sounds like a hardware/firmware issue.
  11. Fonts are different, tighter looking, no layout differences though. Siri voice command wave is a lot more animated, maps has 3D now (dont remember that before?)
  12. I too would suggest it for the exact same reasons... plus... and I may be wrong on this, can the resistive screens to pinch to zoom?
  13. If it really is from a third party developer, why did they choose "AVIC sync"... AVIC being a Pioneer trademark... Im not sure I believe whoever sent that email. We dont see AVIC-SiriusXM or AVICMapping branding... I agree with N7vy, if it wasnt for CarPlay working properly I would be done with Pioneer. Trouble for Pioneer is, competiing companies (Alpine etc) are also receiving Apple (and Google's) car software that offloads R&D to the phone app developers. Soon you will have to own up to your headunits defects quickly or you will be marginalized by lack of specialty features.
  14. Here is how I read it : X100 and X000 units that were advertised with the feature will get the feature at some point... just not yet... perhaps by end of year (what they said LAST year for x000 owners) Here is what I WANT to happen : X100 and X000 units that were advertised with the feature will receive at least another firmware by the end of the year that will include all of the collective updates/fixes/tunes that the X100 users are getting along with AvicSync for the X000 owners who have stuck around. Come on Pioneer, its a feature you advertised to the X000 owners, not to mention t
