  1. After using the unit for some time now I have to say, buying it was the worst decision I have made in some time. I got it with the BT car phone kit and iPod interface and am disappointed with it all. If I thought I could get $1300 for it all I would dump it in a second. Sorry to those who love it, I just am not impressed.
  2. ~Off Topic~ What engine did you put into it? The 3.0CS is one of my favorite BMWs.
  3. Of those who are happy with the Z1, how many have used a different unit for any length of time? So far I think the Z1 stinks compared to the factory unit in my Audi and is marginally worse than the Alpine Blackbird navigation I had before the Z1 in my truck. As a navigation system, the routing engine is truly pathetic. Like I posted in another thread here, if Pioneer comes out with a Z2 update and it fixes a lot of the bugs then I will probably keep it. If they do not I will most likely go with the Alpine W205 or install a factory Toyota unit.
  4. Yea, if that is something you care about then that is a sizable difference. The number of POIs isn't even on my radar as a concern. I rarely use the POI features. FWIW, my Audi Nav system and the Alpine Blackbird both have my favorite restaurant as a POI and the Pioneer, with 11mill POI, does not.
  5. If Toyota offers factory Nav in the RAV-4 then I would go that route unless you really want to watch movies in the front seats. The AVIC-Z1 is probably the best of the worst at the moment (after market nav systems). So far the Z1 is far worse, in almost every way, then the factory nav and BT in my Audi. If the Audi had a touch screen it would be perfect. BTW, if they don't offer factory nav you can always add it. Take a look at: http://www.oemvalue.com/toyota2.htm I had a Alpine IVA-W200 in my truck for a while before getting the Z1 and can say the Alpine's UI and iPod interface were much
  6. Try JETware Hands-free Extension v1.20. It will allow you to transfer all of your contacts at the same time. http://www.jetwaremobile.com/
  7. I think the antenna is just a generic GPS antenna. The connector looks very similar, if not exactly the same, as the factory GPS antenna in my Audi.
  8. I finally got my phone working with the Z1 (JETware Hands-free Extension was the problem). After pairing the phone I gave a friend of mine a call who is usually pretty critical about call quality. He said it sounded fine, no echo. Set-up = Mic on the driver side a-pillar near the roof line and speaker only coming out of the driver side.
  9. FWIW, I just installed my unit today. The build date is Sept, I think. When I tried installing the fix it said it was already installed. I wish I could let everyone know if the fix remedies the echo but I can't get my HTC S620 (T-Mobile Dash) to work with the AVIC yet.
  10. Thanks, that should save me some time on the install. FWIW, my truck is a '97 but I don't think they changed the wiring between years. At least not between '97 and '98.
  11. Does anyone know where the reverse wire is in a Toyota T100?
