  1. I agree with you wholeheartedly on that one...the Apple interface would be the first thing I would remove from this unit...and if possible, I'd have it replaced with a similar interface for Android instead.
  2. I was correct. The connector on the wire I took from the spare harness I had lying around was too short. It just simply wasn't reaching the pin in the stereo connector slot (it was about 1/3 of the length it was supposed to be). It's working beautifully now Look at the attached picture and you will see the difference in the connector lengths.
  3. I was pretty sure I seated the cable as far in as it could be when I first did the mod this past Sunday, but I will double check it later on today. Anyway, I went ahead and purchased the cable from MicroBypass because I just have a feeling that is what's causing it. Thanks for your time.
  4. Damn, I'm guessing the tab on the wire I took from an older Pioneer harness isn't long enough to make contact with the pin on the Head Unit connector. I guess I will have to purchase the correct cable online since I don't want to use the Mute wire.
  5. Those of you that have successfully done the bypass on a Z140BH, do you still get a message about the parking brake not being connected properly, and then having to hit the "OK" button to bypass the message???
  6. I did what GnatGoSplat suggested to do, and it worked for me too. Like him, I had the CNDV-70MTP update previously installed, so I had no icons or anything out of order, and the best thing is I have the new map updates. That's all I really wanted anyway, at least until the actual release of the CNDV-80MT for my unit (AVIC-80DVD) comes out.
  7. You can try it if you want I guess. The payment option is Paypal, don't they have fraud protection......you'll get your money back if it turns out to be a fraud, won't you??? Still, the prices seem kind of hard to believe.
  8. Send PaisanNYC a pm about it. He can set you up with a good deal.
  9. I suggest you adjust your gains properly, and don't turn on the loudness on the avic, it will only distort your sound. This is a good tutorial from JL Audio on how to set your gain properly, which is what I think you need to do before you do anything else: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=143
  10. Yeah, I just installed my VTL-300 yesterday, it works great. Very nice clear and vivid image. If you want your products to last, you have to spend a little bit of money to get quality and reliability; I paid $154 for mine including shipping. Otherwise go with those $40 Hong Kong cameras.
  11. I think most people having problems are having an issue because they aren't booktyping to DVD-ROM, either because they don't know how, or their burner is not capable of booktyping and they don't realize it. Just because you check the booktype DVD+R media in alcohol 120, doesn't mean it will do it if your burner is incapable of booktyping.
  12. I forgot to thank you for the info., got it all hooked up and running nicely now. Thanks
  13. Check the hardware connections when the car is moving. On mine it beeps and the speed pulse actually increases as I speed up. I have the AVIC-80DVD, but should be the same concept for yours. Also, if it set itself up as "Simple Hybrid" mode, make sure you clear it and drive so it can pick up the speed pulse and use the 3D mode.
  14. Well, I finally got it working, but the blue/yellow wire behind the instrument cluster didn't work for me. I had to use the pink wire on the radio harness, now everything is running fine.
  15. I probed the blue/yellow wire behind the cluster, using both AC and DC, and the voltage always stays at about 0.3V whether the car is moving or not. I probed the pink wire at the radio harness and the voltage always stays at 5.07V whether the car is moving or not, and I had to do it using DC because using AC I get no reading, only like 0.3V or so. EDIT: I just measured the voltage at the pink wire(VSS) of the avic, without it being connected to anything, and I read 4.84V DC, and 0.03V AC. Am I supposed to be getting a voltage there without anything being connected to it???
