The unit is actually made by Harman International, not Chrysler.. And the reason I bump this OLD thread, is because they have announced new features coming to this nav unit.. http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9856998-1.html * Turn-by-turn navigation combined with satellite imagery to provide more realistic maps * Automatic wireless map updates, to ensure that drivers will always have the most up-to-date map information. Real-time weather and hazard information will also be available. * Electronic service reminders, delivered directly to the vehicle * Internet sear

i highly doubt pioneer will fix it for free because they specifically state that if you dont buy it from a authorized dealer then the warranty is void. the cable is easy to fix, however.. heres a tutorial i wrote awhile back with pictures and stuff... http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight= follow the link in the first post

Hey guys, I was wondering if its possible to hook up steering wheel controls to the avic z2? If yes, is it compatible with most car makes? Particularly BMW and Chrysler/Dodge? Thanks!

Attempted Theft and now its time to fix....

the part includes the ribbon cable, a new cover (the thing you were talking about), a flex sticker and plastic cover. As far as the glue, the ribbon cable comes pre-glued. All you have to do is take off paper cover. It's just like applying a bumper sticker. Also, since the screen was pulled completley off, you are going to have to fix the flip switch. Here is a good tutorial on what it is and how to do it: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1651 -
I dunno, I wouldn't throw away the idea of a HDD to quickly. I mean Eclipse already did it.. http://www.eclipse-web.com/7000index.html

you can view the navigation.. go to the chrysler.com and look at the Flash thingy, then click the navigation button. ten click to play the video.. yea I know what you mean for not having te choice of XM, but this system is going to Mopar car companies which are buddy-buddy with Sirius.

I currently have my AVIC in this state: How do I get the ribbon cable out of the back of the screen? It seems like that black palte needs to come off, but I'm not sure how it does? Thanks for your help!

ok guys, I just ordered the part, so I should get it early next week. Thanks for your help!! One last thing though, I manually slid the screen a little bit while taking the unit apart, maybe just about 1/2 and inch, you think it will be ok? Should I force it back in, or just leave it? Thanks again!

ok, I just got done taking apart my AVIC-N1, but I don't see anything wrong with the flex cable. Maybe it rips under the screen where I can't see? Here is what it looks like:

A while back my AVIC N1's screen just went black. When I touch the screen it still makes sounds like it working, but I can see nothing. I have done a lot of research and found that many people blame the flex cable for this. I know there is a guy on Ebay who fixes it, and I even took it to my local stereo repait (who quoted me $300. haha). So my question is how often is it really the flex cable for this problem. Is the flex cable fairly easy to switch out?
